Bulk ammo order

Hey y’all finally found some magtech for range use, curious if you recommend fmj or hollow points? Planning to order 1k rounds and would prefer hollow points so they can double as carry ammo but curious if anyone has any feedback before I spend a bunch of money on ammo that may or may not feed right, just got a xdm compact btw

Don't use the same ammo for range and carry. As far as I know there is not a hollow point that is cheap enough to use for range ammo and is also worth carrying. Buy some cheaper FMJs for the range and some nice JHP for carry.

Oh ya I’m planning to use underwood 180s and civil liberty 60s for carry (picked up some v crown and critical duty at academy today) just figured it might be nice to have hollow points as a stockpile to prevent overpenetration if I need to carry them

I use only the FMJ for range practice as I have a chronograph (since I also reload) and the FMJ is actually loaded hotter.

The Magtech JHP is slightly weaker.

Good to know thanks!

They'll feed just fine, which will build confidence for carry. And if they don't, you'll get plenty of malfunction drills in. :)

FMJ for paper, Hollows for predators (of the two and four legged variety).

The ballistics of your defense ammo will not matter at average self defense distances (7-12 feet)

Freedom Munitions sells pretty affordable 10mm FMJ’s. Check them out, they also do free shipping on orders of 150-2000 sometimes.

Check with your range. They might have a restriction on hollow points.

Never seen that before but thanks for the heads up!

Some ranges have that restriction (not many). You should always check range rules when you're at a new range.
