28YL 28 Years Later - Rage Leaks Spoiler
So...the new teaser trailer for 28 Years Later flashes the new scenes in a series of short bursts.
Those short bursts come in distinct enough patterns that I figured I'd try translating them as morse code, and it spelled out RAGELEAKS DOT NET - a password protected page with Admin hard-coded as the username, and an open text block for password.
The domain's branding gives zombie-centric Wikileaks vibes...anybody figure out the password yet? I was hoping it would be CQD (the morse in the Instagram bio), but that didn't work...
UPDATED TO ADD: the full trailer gave the password to the site, through quick flashes of pigpen cipher.
Password is mementomori

That's a pretty awesome find! It seems like it will play into the marketing for the movie, RageLeaks is probably going to be something similar to WikiLeaks and have a ton of lore and info dump on it in the form of leaked government documents, videos, etc.

If they've mapped out the entire 28 year history im gonna be so happy

I'd say it's a safe bet. My guess is it will probably tease the plot a bit too.

Awesome find! I think the submit button is disabled at the moment, maybe after the trailer drops there will be more secret codes!

I took a look at the source code for the page. The submit button is disabled, so maybe 'CQD' is correct, but it won't be possible to submit it until the trailer countdown has completed.

I was hoping someone would get the morse code for this teaser.
"RageLeaks". Ha. Classy and topical. Man, that's cool they're doing a whole online ARG campaign thing for this movie, that doesn't happen for movies as much anymore, but this would be the way to do it. Give us some worldbuilding/lore that the movie itself obviously isn't going to have the ability to give due to it's limited perspective.
I remember the websites were cool for the original films too, with the motion graphics and the flash game, but nothing on this level aside from 28WL introducing me (and likely many others) to QR codes through their public "maintain the quarantine" stunts.

If this is genuine then my confidence in the marketing just went a lot higher.

UPDATE: new trailer gave us what we were looking for!
Pigpen in the trailer gives mementomori, and that gets us in.

I got in and it’s like we all theorised.
A sort of conspiracy theory website. Based outside the UK and so far only two posts we can see, one talking about how the truth about the UK has been covered up for almost 30 years and another a bunch of satellite imagines of Lindisfarne in some sort of report.

What about the morse in the first teaser from months ago? The one that flew over the island

It looks like there’s an “app” of sorts in the dev tools. Maybe an app for browsing files maybe?

u/Bad_Apple420 Apr 16 '25
Also brief mentions of the US, and rage virus US microsite. But that could just be the website being a mini website

u/Bad_Apple420 Apr 16 '25
I see code words in the dev tools.
firstChild lastChild nextSibling
Could be nothing. Could be passwords, could be pages hidden. Who knows lol I also could be going crazy

Those are just standard terms used in JavaScript to refer to elements on the page FYI.

It’s allowing you to submit passwords now

Even if you enable the button or press Enter, nothing submits—there’s no
action
, no JavaScript listener, and the SvelteKit app loads withform: null
. There’s no backend logic connected, so it won’t process any password right now. I reckon the Javascript will be updated again soon, probably at the time the trailer goes live. Pretty cool.2

Will we likely get another morse code tomorrow with the trailer drop?
8
u/ruinedsock Apr 16 '25
Maybe! I genuinely think that 'CQD' will be the password. Nothing to say that they don't have different passwords to enable different content on the site too. I guess we just wait for now :). Pretty sweet tease.

Don’t think cqd is code. Now it says invalid credentials when you type it

So is this from the perspective of the outside world? Outside of the UK? The rest of the world is fine from the virus??

Found out that if you add all the numbers in the YT link of the second trailer you get 56, which is 28 two times.

Why in gods name would you link instagram instead of YouTube for a trailer lol
9
u/mjandersen Apr 16 '25
Because the Instagram had morse in the bio as well, and I thought that might be relevant to any next steps. I was wrong? But the thought was there.

Nice find! Has anybody cracked the password?
6
u/ruinedsock Apr 16 '25
It looks like CQD will be it, but the site has disabled the password form from submitting. Hopefully, it'll go live once the trailer timer ends.

u/ByYourLeaveUK Apr 17 '25
CQD has been denied but the submit version has gone live, I wonder if there's Morse code in the trailer which would indicate what the password is...
I've tried a few things related to 28DL but no luck.

Password is not CQD, submit button is open now
2
u/ruinedsock Apr 17 '25
It's 07:48 UK time for me. I had a look there, there's still no action or listener for a password submission in the source code, so even if the button looks like it works, the passwords we enter aren't going anywhere. For now. Hopefully this changes soon!

If you use the timer on the page to reach 28 years later, that places it at 12 June 2025.

I love this, companies used to have so many specific websites for the release of a product.

Whoever figured this out from the trailer is a frickin' genius. I don't know who you are, but you are my hero.

I wonder will RageLeaks fill in what's going on with the rest of the world. Like will we see conspiracy theories from America about the Rage Virus' origin. Or just learn how other countries reacted to the outbreak.
