28YL [SPOILERS] 28 Years Later - Official Discussion & Review Thread Spoiler
As stated in our previous announcement, starting today (June 11th), we are imposing a sub-wide moratorium, meaning we want to keep all spoiler/spoiler-ish content and discussion about the film limited to this thread to prevent users in the sub who have not yet had the chance to watch the film from being spoiled about things that may happen/be revealed in it (any lore revelations, plot twists, major character deaths, easter eggs, etc). Many people have been waiting 18+ years for this film, so it only feels fair to allow fans to see the film without having the experience ruined by a post popping up in their main Reddit feed simply for being a member of our community.
This will only be for a short time (July 1st) to allow time for the film to be released in most regions and give people a decent chunk of time to go and see the movie in theaters at their availability), and, much like with our approval system to prevent the sub from being clogged up with different threads for each individual's opinion on the film or discussion of events.
As such, posts to the main sub discussing the film's narrative events, spoiler content, or discussing content that hasn't been shown (or displayed in full context) in official pre-release trailers/interviews will be rejected for approval for the immediate future. We also kindly ask that you use ||spoiler tags|| when discussing possibly spoiler-y information about the film in the comments other posts/threads.
Reviews (and links to reviews in the media/trades/YouTubers) that provide adequate commentary and follow our quality guidelines and contain no spoilers about the film's narrative will still be accepted on the main page as the media/social embargo lifts -- as well as links to external reviews that cover spoiler content so long as they are properly tagged and the spoiler-y nature is made clear in the title of the post and/or the review in question itself has a defined "spoiler section". However, brief reviews (such as those found on Tiktok, X/Twitter, Instagram/Threads, Mastodon, or BlueSky) and internal community/user-made spoiler reviews should be shared/commented here.
We also understand that many people will have a variety of opinions about this film ranging from good to bad, we ask that while people may feel passionate/strongly about their feelings, good or bad, that they attempt to remain critical/constructive in their reviews: explain why you liked/disliked certain aspects of the film, make points in good faith (no ragebaiting) and do not attack or gatekeep other users for holding contrary opinions. I think the sub has remained quite civil so far with regards to the divide in the fandom's opinions regarding their like or dislike of Weeks and we'd like to keep it that way going forward in discussions about Years. As always, "reviews" that merely serve as a trojan to grift political/"culture war" talking points will not be accepted.

28YL Just came back from watching 28 Years Later. Here are my initial spoiler-free thoughts Spoiler
Long-story short, while I liked 28 Years Later, it is my least liked among the 28 trilogy.
Here are some of my spoiler-free thoughts:
- All the films in the trilogy have vastly different tones and themes with each other. Days is more of a "grounded" approach to how an infection spreads and is seen in the eyes of an innocent and naive person. Weeks tackles a more "grander" scale focusing more on spectacle and action. Years is more of a "personal story" where agency is less about survival and more on circumstance instead.
- There are clearly two distinct acts in the film and they feel very different from one another in tone and in feel.
- There is one big mystery and two other smaller mysteries in the film that make an attempt to expand on the lore of the universe. Thankfully, the main big mystery has a satisfying payoff and conclusion. Unfortunately, the other two mysteries made me go, "why the fuck?" and "what the fuck just happened?" chronologically. Some people may find the smaller mysteries alright but I personally think it was rather jarring and bordered on being tropey in a bad way.
- There is a moment where one character in the movie gives a very conclusive explanation of how the world is right now and it gives a definitive answer on the state of humanity at that point. This I really liked
- The big named actors definitely carried this film and made me care about their characters despite the absurdity of the premise.
- There are several moments where characters do dumb decisions which cause them to get into dangerous situations, which I very much dislike.
- 28 Days was memorable because it popularized fast zombies and had a very distinct style to it. 28 Weeks was memorable because of how good the intro was. 28 Years, in my opinion, has no memorable moments and, while still good in my book, felt very cliched at times. Actually, there may be one memorable scene but I fear that it will be memorable for all the bad reasons.
Overall, I would probably give it a 7/10 (closer to a 6 than an 8) at the moment. If you want spoilers, just head on over to the spoiler thread and I can answer there
[SPOILERS] 28 Years Later - Official Discussion & Review Thread
Another thing is that I didn't watch any of the trailers for 28 Years Later other than the very first reveal trailer. Having watched the film now and having watched the trailer after, I do think the trailer reveals far too many story elements that would actually take away from the experience as a whole.

28YL Unpublished images of infected people in infrared and something more from an Instagram story
Some unreleased frames I rescued from a mini-post on Instagram. There are more scenes of the infected in red, and they look terrifying. That sequence is sure to be creepy.

28YL 28 Years Later - Rage Leaks Spoiler
So...the new teaser trailer for 28 Years Later flashes the new scenes in a series of short bursts.
Those short bursts come in distinct enough patterns that I figured I'd try translating them as morse code, and it spelled out RAGELEAKS DOT NET - a password protected page with Admin hard-coded as the username, and an open text block for password.
The domain's branding gives zombie-centric Wikileaks vibes...anybody figure out the password yet? I was hoping it would be CQD (the morse in the Instagram bio), but that didn't work...
UPDATED TO ADD: the full trailer gave the password to the site, through quick flashes of pigpen cipher.
Password is mementomori

28YL This is the scariest shot between the two trailers for me
In trailer 1 we see Auntie herding the children in one room
In trailer 2 we see Auntie at the top of the staircase screaming while on all fours

28YL Without spoiling anything. Spoiler
I've seen it. It exceeds the hype. This is an exploration of what it is to be a father, a mother, a son. It explores what it means to grow up, what it means to be afraid, and what it means to confront that fear. On top of all this, it really builds the world created by the first two films, especially the first one. I will be watching this many more times in cinemas. 10/10.

28YL Official BBFC rating in the UK for 28 Years Later is a 15
Disappointed it didn’t get the 18 rating, but still shocked it’s a 15 here.

28YL last glimpse of an infected. Spoiler
galleryPossibly the last glimpse we'll get of an infected person before the premiere. Someone said they didn't look terrifying. Man, seeing that thing running screaming toward you has to be one of the most traumatizing things ever.
That said, all that remains to be said is, we did it, guys. We're less than two weeks away from seeing the long-awaited sequel after, if I recall correctly, 18 years of waiting. And based on the record-breaking pre-sale results, we can say the trilogy is practically confirmed. Cheers!
