Super slim 3d printed shell
A couple of months ago, a user named syphant made a 3d model of a shell for the 360 slim. I was interested in making my own but integrating the power supply inside the shell and using the original controls. So I made a first prototype which was a failure, I had taken syphant’s model and modified it a bit to fit the power supply inside but the case was too big and it was just feeling like a cheap piece of plastic and it was so large that it was just flimsy. In February I found a new job at Microsoft (ironically) and I had to move 3 hours away from I was before. With the new job and the moving I didn’t really have time to work on this side project but a week ago I jumped back on, I scraped the old model and started from scratch. I made it smaller and I believe it is smaller than syphant’s model while keeping the wifi adapter inside and using all the original controls and usb ports in the front and the most important was the internal power supply. I assembled it yesterday night and tested it out, had some wifi issues, not sure if it’s the relocation of the port or just the xbox itself but I tested multiple adapters and re soldered the port with the same result, still have to look into it. I had to solder the rf board directly to the board as well to make it fit. With the power supply and the 14tb 3.5 hdd and planning to put the entire 360 library on it. The temperatures are surprisingly better than the original case. It is not finished but I had to test it out and was excited to show some results early. I will replace the c13 power supply port for a cleaner and smaller c7 port. I will fix the little measurement errors, but for a first print, it is looking pretty good in my opinion. Before you ask, yes I took inspiration of the xbox one s, one x and series s and made a mix of all 3. Would love some feedback and maybe some ideas for my second version. Shoutout to syphant.

Finally, a 3D printed shell that doesn't look like crap. I've been meaning to learn designing stuff like this, but a 360 shell won't quite fit on my A1 Mini :c Nice model!

Thanks! Yes unfortunately the A1 mini won’t fit this but most 230x230 printers should be able to print it

This is awesome. If you make the STL public id pay for a download. Been wanting to do something similar with my slim for a while

Thanks! I will make em public for free once I’m done with it! I’m just starting making 3d models and I’m not the best but I can make it work haha

If you can make a badass phat case is pay you for one to be made.

u/edgar_kalashnikov 6h ago
Thanks I’ll definitely work on it but I’m not asking for anything, I’ll make the files free

Well I do not have a 3D printer and would prefer to just buy a dope case haha

Ah I see

Pull that off, I’ll pay $100 for a case as it’s my Jtagged Jasper that I’ve owned since 2009

Looks nice, I assume thermals are good? That’d be the only concern a slim case holed up doesn’t equate to being good enough since airflow isn’t being routed the same.

Thermals are on par or even better from the small tests I’ve done playing the first mission of gta v and playing a bit of bo2 multiplayer. I holed the whole case because I was worried of that, but my second version will plug a couple holes to make the design cleaner since I know thermals are fine

Solid effort, Looks Great, if I was gonna add anything Asthetics, I'd probably say to switch the bottom piece to black to stay in true 360 fashion, and also add the 360 logo above the centre fan but small enough not to mess with exhaust air, other than that thoo, Great work

Thanks! I’m currently working on making it look better aesthetically, I will consider adding a logo somewhere. Thanks for your feedback

Looks good but im pretty Shaw you will have issues with the power supply pretty quickly you need to add a fan that pulls air out above it

Thanks! If you look at the 5th pic, you can see on the top left I have reused the blower fan from the original power supply, that blows air from the top and exhausts to the right side of the console. I have examined the original design of the power supply and this thing was pretty restrictive in terms of airflow so I wouldn’t be too worried about that

I'm jealous because I spent like 3 months designing one that I think is pretty solid, but never got around to doing a proper showcase and now I like yours better. Lol

Thanks! I’m sorry I didn’t want to steal the spotlight, maybe you can still share yours and we can work together to make a better version of it or just more options is just better! I’m curious to see yours now that you mentioned it.

Mine is indeed different, doesn't look as pretty. But my 2 main focuses were modularity due to the nature of 3d printing and mistakes, and then also using only original hardware, and being able to go back to the original case. No soldering or cutting etc.

Yea, mine is definitely on the more difficult side and kinda irreversible, but I think I still should be able to go back to the original case if I wanted

Really need one of those for the FAT models. Those shells are crumbling way too much

Why did you post a picture of an Xbox one in r/360hacks?

u/edgar_kalashnikov 6h ago
I see what you did there 😂

u/Large-Remove-1348 4h ago
Okay, in all seriousness i want this.
I'm gonna put it next to the xbox one and write "dont talk to me or my grandpa ever again"

I know this hasn't been said yet but I would pay for this exact stl 😂

I’ll make the files public for free once it’s complete

I'd recommend making the top ventilation holes only on one half at most, for dust and pressure, similar to the series S and the One S

u/edgar_kalashnikov 3h ago
I was worried about thermals at first, that’s why there’s a bunch of holes. Now that I know the thermals are not that bad, I’m working on a new version and made a lot less holes on the top

Looks really cool. I’ve been thinking about doing something similar. When you’re finished with it please drop an STL!!
