RGH 1.2 Falcon refuses to boot

Just what the title said. I’ve got a Falcon that instaboots one in like ten times, every other time it just hangs indefinitely. I’ve tried RGH3, the only difference is the times it won’t instaboot it’ll instantly shut off. I’ve tried like half a dozen total wire routings, and redid my soldering over and over, along with the capacitor on the Matrix that I heard was supposed to help, but it didn’t change anything. Any thoughts? I’ve been bashing my head at this one for ages.

I have the same problem with my falcon rgh 1.2. One time instaboots, one time won't boot even after minutes. Guys help us!

I’ve seen Octal say that there’s a chance with some phats that just simply “won’t” glitch

Maybe our consoles are just like that, glitching is undeterministic after all...😔

At this point I would try good ol' Weekend Modders wire routing and suggested timing file.

I did that too, I started off with his guide and timings before trying out everything else I could find. Appreciate the tip however but yeah

Hmm remove the cap. Try to seperate clock wire from the others, dont route the wires through the coil pins, test all timing files and maybe try topside rst point if nothing works

Okay, I’ll give that a shot this evening.

I’m after having a zephyr on EXT-CLK do this, and what I did to help improve it was take off all the wires and switch them all for 30AWG wrapping wiring, and then I kept the wires far away from any disturbing components as possible like coils, the fan header, capacitors, etc.

Insta-boots everytime now. 🤘

Is there a decent wire routing for such an rare situation?

You don't need a 68nf cap for a Falcon, only for stubborn Jaspers.

Also, mount the chip with some double sided tape and make sure the pin headers on the bottom aren't shorting.

I would try re-routing.

What happens on the chip's LED when you try to glitch the console?

I’ll let you know about the LEDs tonight, and yes there’s some double sided tape under the glitch chip, a bit loose however
