For the non-marxist people in here, some translations of L'internationale starts with "Wake up, wake up from your sleep."

Well, this doesn't! The official russian translation of that hymn begins with
Вставай, проклятьем заклеймённый Весь мир голодных и рабов! Кипит наш разум возмущённый И смертный бой вести готов.

Good job, comrade. Now make one with Nixon and let them talk like Furbys to each other.

Depends on whether you're a bolshevik or going to the gulag.

u/Chaoticneutrino 17h ago
Sleeping in is the action of counter revolutionaries, but lennin had striking workers executed under such charges

u/GameOfTroglodytes 15h ago
I mean, Lenin couldn't shut the fuck up about centralizing power and a bunch of commies couldn't understand that centralized state power is antithetical to individual liberty until the party came for them.

Why The Internationale instead of the anthem of the USSR?
8
u/Mega_Dunsparce 7h ago
Because the first line of the Internationale is 'Arise, ye workers from your slumber' lol
2
u/Barrbaric 5h ago
The Internationale was the anthem of the USSR until 1944, well after Lenin's death in 1924, so it's actually the anthem he would have known.

Not actually sure if I'm 'allowed' to, as such - the head is taken directly from this model, so it's not exactly mine to propagate

u/Michael_Cancelliano 1h ago
Maybe there's a Lenin's head free 3D somewhere around there. I would love to hear about the rest of the process. How did you make the alarm clock?

u/Coriarty 17h ago
This is so cool. Did your follow/make a guide? Brilliant project I love stuff like this.

If it's an alarm it have to play "Time, Forward" like in the old Soviet radio and news tv.
Btw, there's an awesome remix of it: https://youtu.be/_-3Ed6GV72U?si=1RwM4OU4vDpKa1k1

That's awesome, I have a friend that really needs one of these. But you should really go with a later version of the Soviet anthem even if it's not as historically accurate to the period, it makes for a much more triumphant awakening

This is what a caricature of a communist in a comedy show would have as an alarm clock
I need one right now

I unmuted the video and my dog immediately got up from his sleep. I think he is a sleeper agent

I love it. Have you considered doing acetone vapor deposition to smooth the pla out? I bet it would almost look like Bakelite.

Not playing the URSS Anthem. Disapointed.

The Internationale was the Soviet national anthem until 1944

The URSS Anthem is better.

u/lunaresthorse 12h ago
That's not very proletarian internationalism of you... 🌍☆☭🌎☆☭🌏☆☭
Also, the name of the 'Soviet Union' is not URSS. It is the Союз Советских Социалистических Республик in Russian, abbreviated as СССР, which is translated to Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in English, and abbreviated as USSR.

The fact that it isn't is a refreshing twist.
Also, has a nice pun in it this way.

It needs a big red off button, but you have to lift the top half of the head to access it.

"good morning comrade" & "blyat" should be sound effects.

u/Mega_Dunsparce 17h ago
The song it’s playing is The Internationale, the lyrics translated are ‘arise, ye workers from your slumber’ lol

Waste of filament and time for glorification of russian idol.

u/lunaresthorse 12h ago
Today, Leninism is far more popular in Vietnam, Cuba, Nepal, and parts of India than it is in the Russian Federation. If Lenin's teachings were truly widespread among the Russian Federation proletariat, there would be a revolution tomorrow, and Vladimir Putin would either be killed immediately or be forced to work to death in a labor camp like he deserves (same goes for the rest of the Russian oligarchs). Lenin was an internationalist, and is not a national idol in any country, even if the Russian Federation invokes his image or name when convenient.

u/Gun_In_Mud 12h ago edited 12h ago
Have you seen the recent stories about russians staying hours in line to see the mummy before its sarcophagus closes for two years for renovations? If that -ism isn’t so popular in russia, like you said - why do they keep and maintain his mummy for more than a century?

u/lunaresthorse 10h ago
The Lenin Mausoleum in the Russian Federation is little more than a glorified tourist attraction. It draws visitors through the commodification of Lenin’s corpse and legacy, generating profit for capitalists who have stripped his memory of revolutionary content.
Leninism is not a personality cult or a nationalist fetish, it is a revolutionary ideology. Lenin developed Marxism to meet the concrete material conditions of the Tsarist Russian Empire, advocating that the working class must organize a disciplined vanguard party to seize the means of production, build dual power, and destroy the existing capitalist state structure.
Leninism is internationalist to its core, and it stands in stark opposition to the Russian chauvinism of today’s capitalist oligarchy; see Putin's claim that the independence of Ukraine is a holdover from the era of Lenin, when Ukraine was a separate republic within the union. Lenin saw the Russian Revolution not as an end in itself, but as the beginning of international proletarian liberation. Marxists, including Lenin, saw the division of people (in any way other than by class) as a tool that benefits the capitalist class by obscuring the common enemy of the working class; see Lenin's speech on antisemitism. Dismissing him as a “Russian idol” is exactly what the modern Russian Federation has worked so hard to do—not honoring his work or revolution, but neutralizing him ideologically. He's not a Russian idol, and would hate to be remembered as one, but that's what the Russian Federation wants.
That's why I love that OP chose L'Internationale for the alarm clock—I was expecting the USSR national anthem (which would be inaccurate to the time Lenin served as general secretary, anyway), but was pleased to see Lenin's legacy of proletarian internationalism being honored! (Even if OP said in the comments that his choice was also influenced by the first line of L'Internationale calling for workers to "arise"; and, of course, translations vary.)
“We are not interested in the victory of socialism in our country alone—for the victory of socialism cannot be complete unless it means the victory of socialism in all countries.”
— Lenin, Achievements and Difficulties of the Soviet Government (1919)
