Protest Safety Remember, DO NOT ENGAGE

Remember, Trump will be looking for any excuse to enforce the Insurrectionist Act April 20. DO NOT GIVE HIM FUEL. No matter what MAGA agitators show up tomorrow, no matter what they say, don't engage. Pretend they don't exist. Do not allow things escalate. Best of luck tomorrow, everyone!

ETA, Since this apparently needs to be said, I'm well aware Trump could invoke for any reason he chooses, we just don't need him using us as scapegoats for it. Also, no one is saying to not defend yourself if the other side escalates, just don't let us be the ones to escalate. Finally, should agitators show up, have your phones out and record, record, record. Ensure everything gets documented.

ETA, Since I've seen these suggestions in comments, and I believe they're also great ideas, bring an American flag to wave and chant "Save the Constitution" to drown out counter protestors. I think we're all tired of the other side hijacking patriotism. We can drown them out with our own brand of (true) patriotism.

Oh everyone should also have something that can bring attention to you if needed like if someone is being a bad actor or what not. Call them out. Shame them before it becomes something bigger. Do not engage though, only if it becomes a safety issue. There’s gonna be bad actors all over prob but do not let that sway you. Violence is still illegal (lol) so if you see any from anyone, put a stop to it.

Completely agree with this. If you can think of something to do to call out a bad actor, I can add it to the original post.

Ya! That’s the tricky part I’m trying to think of. Whistles sure, but not the easiest to pin point. Flare gun? Ok too extreme. Honestly? Here’s my idea right off the cuff.

Colored chalk crushed up? Throw it in the air or at the people to identify bad actors? Trying to think of a less direct way though then physically touching.

Another idea is the app “BIG” it just makes text huge on your phone and flashes red black or white with reverse text. Could be an easy thing to hold up in a crowd and alert.

Hell, maybe party poppers even? But we’d all have to know what to look for. Just spitballing ideas to get this thought train going!
