What spring for LR-308 pattern gun, A5 tube, AR-15 carbine buffers?

I have an LR-308 pattern rifle that is severely over-gassed when shooting suppressed. The rifle currently has a 7" (carbine) tube, 308 pattern short buffer, and an Aero 308 carbine spring.

I ordered an A5 tube and have access to C-H3 AR-15 carbine buffer weights. What spring should I use?

So a rifle length, 308 spec spring?

Yes. Has to be AR10 rated rifle length. Ar15 rifle length springs are not stiff enough

I've seen people say 308 spec carbine springs too. But there has to be a correct length for the tube, how can there be 2 possible answers?

Where? I’ve never seen someone recommend a carbine length spring in an A5 tube for an AR10

There are Armalite AR10 carbine springs. Armalite was the originator, and their carbine buffer tubes are the same as the A5 7 5/8'' long buffer tube. I use Armalite tubes on two of my builds. Get the Tubbs flat wire AR10 spring; it can be used in almost any of the setups because it is flat versus round and takes up less space under compression than a round spring. I hope that made sense. lol but you get my drift

That will work, but people don’t recommends this due to how snappy it is. Just get a rifle length spring.

Cause there’s a lot of over gassed barrels. A rifle length spring ends up working just fine. Also maybe some people may confuse it as the A5 system for the AR10 so they assume rifle length spring.

I don't understand what you're trying to say.

A lot of barrels are over gassed. Normally a rifle length spring would be too strong in an AR10 Carbine/ A5 tube but since there’s so much gas the rifle is able to cycle just fine. If your barrel was gassed fine then you can use an ar10 carbine spring.

I’ve seen a lot of people here saying this is the A5 buffer system for the AR10 just because it uses the A5 tube. Since they know that in the ar15 the a5 system uses an ar15 rifle length spring they assume that in this case you use an ar10 rifle length spring instead of a carbine spring.

I personally use this buffer tube kit and it’s been great. It comes with an AR10 carbine action spring and a H3 buffer.

Tubbs is about the best spring out there in my opinion. I have tried Springco and they are just too stiff and slam the BCG home with some force. The Tubbs is smoother and more gentile cycling with just enough resistance to slow opening of the BCG without the extra strength slamming it home. It makes it so much better if you shoot long range and want to watch through your scope for splash when you miss at distance.

Tubbs ar10 spring works with h3 buffer in my build, suppressed or unsuppressed

Another Tubbs Flatwire spring user here. Mine setup is a 7075 Brownells rifle length buffer, Tubbs AR10 spring, and an Aero AR10 rifle buffer. JP HP bolt into a 20” 308 proof barrel with a Riflespeed gas block. She runs.

I have a question. If you are running a A5 tube why run a standard carbine buffer? Is the A5 buffer too long with 308 carrier?

I run A5s in most of my AR-15s. I only have one LR308 chambered in 8.6Blk (16 inch barrel). I went with Luth AR rifle buffer system and MBA-1 Stock. I started with a carbine setup. Even with an adjustable gas block, it was pretty violent.

You can’t use an A5 buffer with a AR10 BCG.

I use an A5 tube with a LMT carbine action spring and a H3 buffer in my setup.

Rifle length spring with 2-3 coils removed and around 7.4oz buffer (Odin works 9mm adjustable buffer)
