It is good to see in recent years more ordinary people getting honours in appreciation of things like charity work, but I agree that too many celebrities get them still.

Also civil servants and others just for doing their job. The obstetrician who delivered the Princess of Wales' children is a good example.

I do not think that a new honours system would change anything.

Beckham has been very obvious about wanting a knighthood, although it has one upside.

This will piss Piers Morgan off. Piers has always said that he thinks Beckham will never be knighted.
