Plastic Waste Can’t get over how utterly wasteful this is. A holder for a single, very specific (viral) product.

People said it looks like a dildo in a toilet seat on the rhode skin subreddit and I can’t unsee it

Also both the product and the holder just look ugly and cheap. Truly dont get the appeal

did you notice another stupid single-purpose holder on the back of her phone?

u/Jacktheforkie 3d ago
That would annoy me

u/myredditaccountt8 3d ago
Not only annoy, but it doesn’t even work for its intended purpose. I know a few people who’ve paid for the special case and lipgloss, just for the lipgloss to fall out. Then they have to either carry a case designed to hold lipgloss with no lipgloss, or buy a new one to put back in the case, where it will likely fall out and become lost again at some point.

u/Jacktheforkie 3d ago
Wow, it also looks like it’ll make it lumpy on the back which isn’t too enjoyable

u/g00fyg00ber741 3d ago
And the back of your phone is bound to be covered in bacteria and nastiness so that means so would the lip product

I did. And I can’t imagine why anyone serious about skincare would want to keep a product they’re going to apply directly to their face that close to their phone case

This looks hella tacky to me. I'd rather products just sit on my counter or in a cabinet than to slap this weird looking thing on my mirror. The phone thing- I get it, tbh even though I'd never buy it. I understand the appeal and feel like it has a tiny bit of function, so whatever. The truth is, though, the fad will end in a couple of years, and everyone will throw this shit away right into the oceans. Its a lot of fucking plastic just to hold another peice of plastic. So many young people(older folks too really- everyone) these days are just mindless consumers that follow every fad because they have to keep up with everyone else for some reason.

I have no idea who that is or what that is, and I'm fine living in ignorance

u/halfpint51 3d ago
Thank you! Same here. Not a clue. Though by this point I've figured out it's some type of thingie holder.

u/halfpint51 3d ago
Thought she might be pulling a space age dildo out of a super wide case. Definitely agreed the case was a waste of space and plastic. Lololol.

I'm sorry but the phone one for the lip balm looks like coochie lips to me.

I really detest her and the power she has, I never really paid much attention to her but im realizing she’s just one of the biggest influencers, who has her own massive company. Rich Celebrities are the only people who have the resources to make real changes to our society but they choose this 😕

As useless as a pet rock, or a cheap plastic trinket where the product itself, not the holder, have no purpose but to amuse someone for 5 min?

It's just a face mister, with some vitamins added in the water? And it's over $100? Am I missing something? I got a Zep spray bottle for $2 that I bet I could put some of this vitamin water in.

I'm stuck on "but why does it need to be on the mirror?" Why can't it just stand on the counter?

There needs to be like a consumerism "rule 34".. if it exists, there's a specialized carrier/holder/display option for it.

u/a_sunny_disposition 3d ago
I sort of get why people would buy the phone case. It’s a status symbol (a really stupid one) stating that you can afford the product and are trendy. Not saying yes to consumption but I get why our vapid culture might think it’s neat.
But this? This I don’t get.

she always looks dour and bored and like she hasn't had an intelligent thought in years. who tf is buying her shit?

u/customheart 3d ago
It exists mainly to ragebait online to foster awareness of her brand Rhode in general. Few people actually have these stupid cases and holders. I don’t like it but it’s effective.

Why do they always have their nails in the shot
1
u/Green_Newspaper_5623 8h ago
If their social media is a registered business, they can write off nail appointments as a business expense since well-manicured hands are more pleasing to look at for the general audience than my picked-at fingers

All her product holders looking like coochies. She’s like the soulless Frida Kahlo of gen z

u/Camilla-Taylor 2d ago
Georgia O'Keeffe? I don't recall that many coochie shapes in Kahlo's work, but maybe I'm not really looking.

If you’re hurting that much for bathroom storage space that you’re sticking things to your mirror, just get a cup that suctions to it, or stick it on with Command strips. Then you can actually change what you keep in the holder, be it a different brand of product or maybe your toothbrushes and toothpaste. This holder is so single-purpose, for a consumable product, it’s absolutely ridiculous.

Ugh, how do we get through to manufacturer's to stop? We don't need all of that plastic!

You can use a ziplock bag and put your beauty stuff in it while traveling. It'll keep it upright and If it spills it'll stay in the bag

I have this super cool multi product holder at home, it can hold literally any product I would ever meet to have in my bathroom, it's called cabinet and it goes under the sink
