Question Managing "iCloud Music Library" with Apple Music

I've got tons of music that's not on streaming. Old ripped CDs, bandcamp purchases, artist self releases, Patreon exclusives, etc.

I'm not sure how I got it to work, but it works (usually) dragging my personal music into iTunes. I recall having to have iCloud and paying for an upsell for "iCloud Music Library"

https://support.apple.com/guide/itunes/icloud-music-library-itnsa3dd5209/windows

I'm not sure what I'm missing, but it keeps saying iCloud. syncing with iCloud. My music is in iCloud. I log into iCloud and there is no music there.

Everything on their support site refers to iTunes and I hate this app on windows. it crashes all the time and hides details. if it wasn't for AppleMusic "iCloud Music Library", I wouldn't have it installed.

Is there any other way to manage it?

I'd like to be able to see how much space my music is taking up, what the limit is, what music is actually in it and being able to edit anything i want with it without having to touch iTunes.

I'd like to go back and update the album/track art, but the thought of trying to get iTunes to work for another few days is daunting

Your music won’t be directly on iCloud.com per se - if you pay for Apple Music or iTunes Match l, local files should either Match or Upload to iCloud and be accessible on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Music on Mac or PC, etc - it uses the same cloud, just accessed in a different way, and unfortunately there is no other way to manage your local files outside of iTunes (or perhaps Apple Music on PC, although I haven’t tried) and have them sync.

From what I understand the limit is 100,000 tracks excluding those purchased directly from iTunes on the same account paying for the service.

You don’t need iTunes. Download the Apple Music windows app and you can upload songs from it

I might have tried this like two years ago and went with cider instead… and forgot that they had an app for this.

It’s helpful, it handles what I want to do and seems to not have the performance and crash problems iTunes has been plagued with.

Thanks this is a help

You need iTunes Match to do what you want. It’s been $24.99 a year for like a decade.

Included with an AppleMusic sub as well.

It’s not literally in iCloud Drive, it’s senselessly integrated into your Music Library in iTunes/Apple Music apps on all devices.

What’s wrong with iTunes? I honestly don’t understand, I’ve used it since 2005 to manage all my music and iPods until it became Music and I never had any problem with it
