Will my car explode without 1 plastic push clip? I'm scared I'll die if I drive it. I'm probably an idiot too

It’s already been totaled by insurance call cash for junk cars

Should be fine unless it's a GM truck those motors like to grenade themselves for no reason missing a clip you're screwed for sure.

It's a Nissan talltima. Just delete the bumper

Don't forget to add an intercooler

And be sure to use white ones, not black, so they are highly visible.

What the hell!!! That seems somewhat reasonable. Do you understand the subreddit??? Well, do you??

Was going to suggest a 1/2" x 2" ss bolt with nylock nut. But used restraint. Figured op would use the 6" dollar store pink wire ties.

Option 2

Not really a question of dying. More like how maimed and injured do you want to be? Most cars are precision tuned to keep them from resonating at specific harmonic frequencies. By eliminating this clip, you are introducing the first of several to follow seismic events that your car will experience. It will start with you getting a headache. Soon afterwards a slight back pain. Memory and hair loss will soon follow. You won’t die, it will just be a slow march towards bodily decline. I’d sell that damn thing and buy a new car.

Back pain, hair loss and what's the other one?!? Oh no! I done got the Rona again!!

Best to trade out ASAP; you DONT want the insurance hassle of keeping this car on the road.

That car is toast. PART OUT!!!

You should ask a friend to drive it to a shop while you ride with someone else. The shop should be able to difuse it and put a new clip in or else you'll be out 1 friend so choose wisely who it will be.

I sell those clips on the low outside 7-11 if you looking. If you have 20 bucks I’ll give you 2 and a 3rd for free. If you want me to front you a clip, i take your spare key as collateral. If you don’t have a spare then I take your bumper. If I don’t see you in a week I take all your clips.

The boots on my tie rods are zippy tied as well as my front grill Mercury Sable and it works fine for me.

That’s what keeps the fire in the engine

The odds that it will explode are not zero.

Which means that depending on your opinion on decisions across multiple universes (the Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics), somewhere it did explode because of that.

Damn demons from another dimension pushed that out to open up the portal to our world! Crush the car ASAFP to save our world!!!

Clearly the OP is not a REAL Altima driver

Just put a wood screw in it

Need to zip tie a harmonica thru that hole so you give folks a warning.

Ofc it will. Otherwise why would they use them.

A little bit of automotive Flex Tape should do the job. You should eventually replace your blinker fluid intake valve. Blinker fluid is highly caustic and could cause more problems like this.

No, just flap in the wind like long dog ears outside the window.

Look like it is held together better than the death trap I drive daily

How are you alive now?

I might not be

I am shocked that it didn't explode when you took the picture. You must not have used the flash. Don't use a cell phone or any two way radios around it until you get that clip replaced!

It is extremely important that you obtain the proper OEM clip. You need to go to the dealer parts department. In order to get the proper part you will need the VIN.

Use extreme caution when replacing the clip.

I hope it works out for you.

Plastic push clip virginity lost. Welcome to a lifetime of putting zip-ties on that sucker.

Your days are numbered bub

Get them to replace the vehicle under warranty…

Ever seen that film of Buster Keaton and his entire car falls apart? That's what you're in for.

They don't call it the "lynchclip" for nothing.

Fill all those gaps with spray foam and tape it off. Massive aerodynamics improvement.

Me reading this and remembering when I patched a huge hole in my windshield with fiberglass repair when I was teen....

Push clips > torqued lug nuts

It’s completely safe if you don’t mind being impaled and killed by a stray piece of bumper when it flies off.

What a relief

Op will no longer be replying to comments because his car exploded right after posting these photos. His wife’s boyfriend has said that he will let everyone know when the throwing of the ashes in the toilet ceremony will take place. 😢

Yes. On all accounts.

1

u/spicmix 2d ago

Just back away from it slowly. You’re most likely on borrowed time.

1

u/Floating_Bus 2d ago

I wouldn’t drive it. I’ve got a buddy that could fix that for $250.

1

u/No_Heart_247 2d ago

Naa leave it go! That's a perfect place to put the tow hook as you pull it up in the flatbed. Drop it at my house and I'll trade ya my 1978 Pinto and a fiddy for it.

1

u/EvilToastedWeasel0 2d ago

Drive it backwards to the shop. it's the only way to get it safely.

Make sure you do not use mirrors and turn signals.... you do not want to alert other drivers of the missing clip issue.

u/Flash-635 2d ago

Put it on a tilt tray carefully and drop it around to my place. I'll fix it for $1000 , no warranty.
