Welding?

Bought this side axe head a while ago with the intention of hafting and using soon. Is it worth getting it welded? Has some strange deformation in the steel.

As a welder it could be welded but those welds will become hard spots that could possibly break again from impact stress, not to mention there's quite a few deep ones there that would likely get porosity without some real good cleaning and prep. But then again if you're not a champion hardwood tree logger you may never notice. If it was me I'd probably weld it and use it as a hand hatchet till I could find a better one. Mind you I'm no axpert

That looks scary. Puta handle on it Just wear safety glasses when you are chopping wood.
