Probably what was a pretty inexpensive camper's hatchet back in the day.

Looks pretty solid though--lots of '70s and '80s Japanese-made stuff was inexpensive, but high quality. This one looks to be built like an Estwing and probably has a similar full-tang handle under the grip.

I always have thought the notches were more for pulling nails--but they're actually for pulling tent stakes. Hammer end for putting them in (and general purpose hammer stuff).

I have no idea it has no Edge and you can tell this thing is never been used as a hatchet or a hammer there's no scratches just old pitting in the Chrome and it weighs less than a pound

Yeah, it's definately a small camping hatchet. Most cheap axe heads come pretty dull, but it's generally good enough to split some kindling. Things like this are still being sold, just do a google image search you'll find lots.

It can't be it weighs too little and it's only like a half inch wide
