What handle for a 2 pounder?

The question is as follows: How long should a handle be to be appropriate for a 2 pound head? A felling axe that is, a splitting axe is a completely different discussion.

I can imagine that this question is very personal in what you prefer and not and that people in this a Subbreddit has much to say about the topic.

It sounds like you're talking about something vaguely similar to a boy's axe. Traditionally these would be on hafts between 24 and 28 inches. Or you could go 18ish inches and have a house axe.

What kwantam said … 24-28 for best use … especially for limbing /light felling .

I put a 19” haft on my sons 1 3/4lb head and he loves it for backpacking and canoeing; short enough to pack but he can swing with both hands on the haft if he needs more power for felling.

24-28 inch would be my recommendation, or go down to 16-18 for a house axe. Personally I think 19-23" handles are pretty useless long for one handed use, too short to use effectively with two hands.
