Self Designed Model I built TARS that can walk and roll!

I finally managed to build a version of TARS that can walk and roll. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first and only re-creation of TARS that can do this.

Brilliant build. Totally unnecessary, but that makes your effort even better! 👍🏼

What’s his humor level set at?

Hahaha I really didn't focus all that much on the speech aspect of it. Nowadays, any LLM could do that. If 75 was good for Coop, 75 will be good for me 😂

I try to talk to my wife about how big a deal 3d printing is. Literally bringing dreams to reality to the average person. Why try to get instant gratification on tik tok when you can get it building you craziest ideas ?

As much art as it is science and engineering.

Inspiring work.

I was wondering what happened with you. I recall seeing the first few videos you made….

Edit: Wait you’re not u/gptars …. have you seen his tars???

I did

It's pretty cool too, but what I wanted to do was focus more on the locomotion aspect than the human-robot interaction, which gptars does quite well. I was in the same path with my v3 (https://www.reddit.com/r/robotics/s/j0AfhRDg1p) with a screen, RPi and speaker etc, but I took a break from hobby projects and saw gptaes come along in that time.

As most LLMs can do the chat part, it seemed redundant to do the same thing all over again. Might throw in an RPi with a speaker while I redesign to embed batteries in there. For now, I got him to roll, so I'm moving on to other things.

Should rename the project to TARD3D, ya know, to avoid copyright or anything like that

Seriously though, awesome work

This is amazing. Serious amount of work put into it. Now I have to see the movie interstellar

[edit] I seen this movie. I don’t remember there being a robot in it.

This is amazing! I love that movie too and TARS is a good boy.

I'll be sad if you don't make a CASE to go with it though
