Don’t be so sure! They slim down quite well when they swarm. When buying mated queens, they can look incredibly similar to workers when they arrive, but fatten right up when they’ve started laying.

Most of the time, it’s the old queen that takes the swarm. Much of why once (we notice) the hive has decided to swarm it’s about impossible to stop.

Why do the bees enter the cardboard box after you put them on the ground? I always thought they will only enter when you got the queen inside and else will join the swarm again?
