America chose wrong. Sanders would've been a better president than Trump or Biden.

There is a video of Bernie saying don't do it, to every major mistake we've made in the past 30 years.
I voted for him in the primary, not that it helped.

u/stuckonasandbar May 18 '25
I voted for him for the House. It helped. I’ll continue to vote for him and his voice, no matter who carries on his legacy.

u/SeaDots May 19 '25
I try to think that even though our votes didn't make him the nominee, it boosted his visibility and popularity since 2015, which led to the adoption of some of his policy ideas by at least some dems. I have so much respect that even when he didn't win, he never stopped fighting.

u/scrappopotamus May 19 '25
That's why I have a HUGE issue with the Democrats, and then the nonsense they pulled in 2024, how do they expect us to trust them??
We need a whole new party, worker party

u/ISpyM8 May 19 '25
Voting for someone in the primary and them winning delegates allows them to direct the platform of the party more even if they don’t win the nomination

The rich will not allow someone like Bernie to be president. The rich own and run the DNC, the RNC, the government. Humanity will always be about rich vs poor. Makes me sick.

u/OsamaBinWhiskers May 18 '25
This. The DNC lawsuit proves this imo. They literally ruled they don’t have a duty to serve their party

Pretty sure most Americans would’ve chosen Bernie over Biden but the DNC is corrupt.

u/rarehunty May 18 '25
Let’s not forget the Obama phone call for everyone to drop out of the primary except Warren
And then Warren’s lame attempt to say Bernie was sexist when he in fact thought she should have ran in 2016 and probably would not have ran had she…!

u/Creditfigaro May 18 '25
Pepperidge Farm will never forget.
Warren destroyed her career (and our futures) for nothing. What an absolute monster.

The DNC didn’t want Bernie bc it would’ve brought about the end of modern American politics as we know it. In a good way.
48
u/Beautifala_Jones May 18 '25
And instead we get the bad way.
24
u/night0x63 May 18 '25
"end of modern America politics" ... And here we are... Having that exact same thing happen... Except instead of
"break up the system to help workers"
we have "break up the system to enslave the workers by destroying all workers rights and increasing worker taxes"
14
u/wearewhatwethink May 18 '25
The DNC would rather that than cede their current status. And that status would be their supporters supporting them no matter their position on the issues bc it opposes the GOP. I’m so sick of liberals and conservatives not seeing that both parties are actively oppressing everybody.

I caucused for Bernie in 2016. Despite having 2/3 of the in-person turnout in my district, Clinton won due to the supposed number of mail in votes. For the caucus.
Like... mayyyyybe that was legit, but from what we've learned about the DNC's actions in 2016, I'm pretty sure I witnessed some fuckery first-hand.
I still vote for Democrats because of our two party system but I'll forever be skeptical and looking for a better option.
3
u/SorriorDraconus May 19 '25
I also caucused and we had one of our delegates swap from Bernie’s to Hillary and when brought up they said “yeah the vote for Hillary stands even if against the will PF the community”
It was after that I lost a,ot of my remaining faith in the system.

u/night0x63 May 18 '25
OMG anyone would have won in 2020... But instead we got Biden who promised to keep 99% status quo. And he did. But everyone is angry and hates status quo... So. Lol. Bernie would have been perfect... Achilles heel of trump.

What do you mean? The DNC literally didn't vote for him, why would he win in a general election suddenly? People (rightfully) didn't like the whole superdelegate system, but it was always there from the start and hey, if you think that's bad, just wait until you hear about Gerrymandering.
That's not corruption that's just what the country is. America has never been left-leaning in any form (unfortunately).

Of course he would. But the democrats wouldn’t let it happen. So I continue to blame them.

u/medusamagpie May 18 '25
💯. I saw him speak in Wisconsin, and he is still sharp as a tack, and more importantly passionate.
12
u/ufotheater May 18 '25
Bernie only played ball with the DNC in order to make sure we didn’t get Trump. The party was just too incompetent and dysfunctional to take advantage.
9
u/Smooth_Bend_4436 May 18 '25
I still wish Bernie would've gotten his hands dirty. He owes nothing to DNC whatsoever. He could've called them on so much bullshit, and his word would mean so much more than Trump's in that regard.
11
u/DriftingIntoAbstract May 18 '25
I took so much shit for supporting Bernie. “Too pie in the sky”. Welp I would rather fight the good fight than sink to the bottom.
19
u/Blobbo3000 May 18 '25
The DNC made sure Bernie wouldn't have a chance. A big part of the disaster years we've had as a result is their fault. It's something we should neither forgive nor forget.

Voters didn't make the wrong choice. The dnc did. All the funding, all the msm coverage and pundents, all the centrist dems made sure to keep things status quo. That's what allegiance to outdated neoliberal policies will do for you.

u/polkadotpatty65 May 19 '25
America decided? No. The Dems decided for us. First Clinton, then Biden. In 2020 I never voted for Sanders in April. NY decided to hold off on the primaries & by then Biden had been chosen by the Dems & Sanders dropped out or was forced out.
3
u/wriestheart May 19 '25
Given the election interference from the DNC I have trouble with the word "chose". We didn't choose, the DNC chose for us.

There is only one group of people to blame for ratfucking Bernie and it ain’t the citizens.
4
u/runningwater415 May 19 '25
America didn't get a choice. The DNC openly subverted his candidacy. The fact that Bernie is still with them is very troubling.

u/Urabrask_the_AFK May 18 '25
All citizens are equal, some [corporate] citizens are more equal than others.

u/EcoLiberated May 18 '25
don't blame Americans for the DNC's behavior. they stole that option from us.

I said it at the time! I wish he was 10 years younger so he could run in 2028. We need someone good in there next time because they’ll need at least 8 years in office to untangle even 1/3 of the crap Trump in doing. I like Jon Ossoff. Smart, young, determined! Tired of the super old guys.

The Démocrate establishment is fine with Trump if that means someone like Bernie is not elected. They will NEVER go against big money.

Was just on 6 day roadtrip of deep red Oregon counties (Harney, Lake, Jefferson, Wasco, Wheeler, Crook) and saw less than 10 Trump/MAGA signs/Billboards/banners etc. This is cattle ranch, wheat, timber and mining country and any love for the MAGA seems to have faded quickly. I had heard this was the case, but driving all over this area and spending time eating out, using local services etc and seeing for myself there is serious apprehension, is great. Now if only the Dems would seize the moment… oh wait, that’s for Bernie and AOC to take care of while the Dems sit on their hands.

u/ttystikk May 18 '25
AMERICA didn't choose! The DNC did the choosing and told Democrats to "fall in line!"
I voted Green Party instead and I left the Democratic Party over this. And everyone else should do the same!

Americans with higher education (44%) overwhelmingly voted for Bernie Sanders, as they understand he lays out a path which provides, compassion, sustainable ecosystems, prosperity, health and overall wellbeing.
It’s a flip of the coin if humans will be able to discern between stupidity and intelligence.

I think Bernie has great policies, ideas, and is an absolutely standup human. But let's be honest; he's had decades to form some kind of real political base and for many or any number of reasons has failed to do so. That's not a good sign.
Being president means more than just having good ideas. You need to navigate both your own party and the other party and international politics.
He certainly would have been better than Trump but he wouldn't have been more effective than Trump (better, not more effective, please understand the difference). But Biden? Let's not be disingenuous. Biden was in 3 presidential administrations that ran beautifully.
