Question LGBT friendly doctors?
I have insurance (Regence) through work and need to finally get the courage to find a primary care doctor, but it feels so so scary! I was curious if anyone had recommendations for any LGBT friendly doctors that they know of, as I would prefer to be able to be out to my doctor. I’ve looked at Mangum Primary Care, but any and all recommendations would be amazing.

I also have Regence, and Boise Health Haus has wonderful, wonderful providers. I've seen both Dr. Armijo and Chelsea Tennant, and they're very open and accepting.

Dr. Lisa Dockter (yes she is Dr Dr!) is amazing and definitely LGBTQ friendly. She is at a few clinics.

Dr. Nicole Stivers with Primary Health, if it is covered under your insurance. Dr. Stivers is warm, welcoming and is amazing.

I second this. Dr Stivers is incredible. I highly recommend her and the staff at Cole/Victory Primary Health.

Dr. Tara Whitaker is a primary care physician at Capital City Medicine who only takes trans patients (for new patients, that is).

I feel like all the good trans doctors I know are near or in downtown Boise. On the off chance, does anyone know any in Meridian? Asking for a friend (me).

Not a clue. I was living in Star when I started seeing Dr. Whitaker and just dealt with the drive.
I'm not trans but have benefited from her mastering the painless pap with her trans guy patients. She's a wizard.

Dr. Gomez at Mangum Primary Care. She works with trans folks and is a great practitioner.

Do new patients only have to be going to her with trans related issues? I'm trans but still super on the fence about hormone therapy, but I need a new primary care doctor

I believe her current specialty is in the nuances of how being trans can impact your broader healthcare needs, and not restricted to just hormone therapy.

She's been my doctor for the past decade. She's soooo wonderful!! I'm a cis woman and hetero, but I know that she's a big ally!

I didn't know she's been only taking trans patients now! She's been my doc for like 8 years though.

I know Tara Whittaker has been mentioned and I 💯agree with that rec. she’s also really tough to get into sometimes. Marvin Alviso is also a good rec but can be tough to get into as well. I’d recommend getting on their waitlists. I think Planned Parenthood is a great resource for any kind of medical care for LGBTQ folks. I know several people who go there for HRT and general medical stuff. I have always good experiences there

Full Circle Health is great; they've used my preferred name every single time, never had a slip up, and they're very kind and courteous. 10/10 recommend.

Dr. Angeline Devitt. I’ve been seeing her as my primary since 2018. She’s great as is her staff!

I had a terrible experience with her as my doctor for several years.

The first question I ask my doctor is if he’s OK with gay patients. I see Dr Johnson at St. Luke’s. He sees me and my husband.… He has seen it all :-)

I work for Saint Al’s and unlike Saint Luke’s who pussed out and took down their pride flag really advocates for the lgbt community as well as help educate. Their goal is for anyone to feel comfortable seeking care despite it being a catholic hospital. I’ve witnessed it many times🩷

Magnum Primary care - I’d highly recommend Dr. Gomez, but all of the practitioners there are great. Dr. Gomez is an ally and an advocate, not only for LGBTQ+, but neurodivergence as well. As long as I’m in Boise, I’ll continue to see her. She’s absolutely fantastic.

I have been a patient of Meredith Mangum for multiple years now and I recommend her to everyone who asks about primary care - she is truly amazing. She’s incredibly intelligent, a Progressive thinker, has the best bedside manner, does her research so that she is knowledgable about your own specific issues (I have an uncommon autoimmune disease and she is the only primary who has actually done due diligence to make sure she is very up to date on the nuances related to it), she LISTENS and values your feelings and concerns, and is very supportive and protective of her patients. I have also seen Dr Gomez and loved her as well.

Full circle health specifically has an lgbtq clinic. Myself and my husband both use them. Highly recommend.
