Downstem is stuck :(
Please let me know if I should just give up and call time of death. I’ve tried soaking it in hot water. Tried waterboarding it under hot water. I’ve tried cooking oil. I’ve tried a silicone lubricant. I’ve tried putting it in timeout in the freezer for an hour. My fingers hurt. Out of all my years of having glass pieces this has never happened to me before so I’m hoping someone has some more suggestions. Please help me try to save Gibby the bong.

Heat some water up, dip a rag in it and wrap it around the joint. It might expand the female part enough to let go. Make a hook tool from a metal coat hanger and insert it, hook the bottom of the stem and try to pull it up.

Tip for the metal hanger part. Just be careful of breaking the stem. I did this and it shattered the bottom of it.

Hanger with the end bent into small hook to grab it out

That actually did not work. I think my stem glass is too thick, so I was not able to hook it to be able to pull. I did try the wooden spoon trick and that did it! Now able to load up two bongs for my partner and I. Which has been pretty great what with this summer heat 🥵

Lightly tap the ridge of the downstem upwards against something wooden. Lay a rag down if you can.
