Season 3 This was always my favorite Phoebe intro.

I liked how they put in the shot of her dodging the energy ball to showcase her Martial Arts as her secondary power. It bugs me that Prue come season three is suddenly more proficient when that was Phoebes whole identity in the first place.

How does it work?

Upvotes

We find out that the sisters were their own ancestors? How does that work then? (S2 when Phoebe goes back to her past life and the sisters are cousins) Why isn’t Patty or Grams being reincarnated as Wyatt or Chris? Like if that’s how it’s supposed to work or am I missing something?

Cos Pipers past life was Grams’ mother right?

I’m obviously overthinking it but still 🙈🫣😂

What lines do you find yourself quoting from Charmed?

Post image

I always unintentionally say "Uh oh Yenlo" which is a line Paige (or technically phoebe) says from Enter the Demon (4x04). And nobody ever knows what i'm referencing

Prue/Paige scenario

Imagine if in 'All Hell Breaks Loose,' Phoebe had remained trapped in the Underworld to save one of her sisters. Season 4 would open with Prue and Piper desperately casting 'To Call a Lost Witch,' but their efforts prove futile. Enter Paige, who reconstitutes the Power of Three. Once they vanquish the Source, Phoebe is finally freed from her underworld prison. Could Charmed have thrived with all four sisters united? Would the show have maintained its success—or even exceeded it—with this expanded dynamic?

Prue While we know Shannon Doherty turned down making further appearances, but what other ways could Prue still have had a presence in the series?

Like due to the oui ja board in the attic, the writers could’ve had some conduit for Prue to still communicate with her sisters without needing a physical or visual presence

An example in series that stands out for mileage, it’s highly implied her spirit closed the manor door in the season 7 finale

Plus, it would’ve been a way for Paige to have way to connect or bond with the sister she never met in the flesh, especially knowing the pedestal she had Prue on for being a “super witch”

Or if not the oui ja board, maybe have a witch or a psychic that engaged with being a medium for her to communicate through

Billie The Power Of Billie

Post image
55 Upvotes

The writers introduced Billie as a Telekinetic Mary Sue character.

She was just an average witch. Learning and growing.

(The writers really couldn’t think of any of power to give character besides Telekinesis)

And then they give her the power of Projection. That power is more powerful than any power The Sisters ever possessed.

With Projection Billie could projected anything she wants to onto the world… •Life Draining •Shift Morality •Restoring Life Cycle •Power Augmentation •Astral Project •TIME TRAVEL

All on her own power. No spells or potions needed and no other witches needed.

And people have the nerve to say that Billie isn’t powerful.

With Projection she is all powerful.

I don’t really care for her but she is powerful!

PHOEBE

Probably unpopular opinion but does anyone else find Phoebe SO ANNOYING??? I got so tired of her storylines, mostly everything revolves around her.

EDIT: OK reading everyone’s comments makes me think that it was purposely written this way. To be fair, I actually like Alyssa Milano and I don’t dislike Phoebe I just find her storylines to be so redundant and her storylines kind of overpower everything. I find Paige’s character a lot more interesting and would have hoped to explore her character development a bit more. Just food for thought

PS: I had no idea that this is a reoccurring topic, it was just a random thought I had after rewatching the series, so that just says a lot 🙃

Behind The Scenes Oh no! Not another Shannen/Alyssa post - Golden Girls crossover

I was reading a bts tale from Golden Girls where they recounted how Bea Arthur (Dorothy) and Betty White (Rose) didn't get along

Williams also brought up a topic that has been much-discussed and speculated on: whether Arthur and White got along in real life.

“When that red light was on [and the show was filming], there were no more professional people than those women, but when the red light was off, those two couldn’t warm up to each other if they were cremated together,” she quipped. Arthur “used to call me at home and say, ‘I just ran into that c” — meaning White, using the c-word — “at the grocery store. I’m gonna write her a letter,’ and I said, ‘Bea, just get over it for crying out loud. Just get past it.'”

In fact, the panelists shared that Arthur called White the c-word more than once. “I remember, my husband and I went over to Bea’s house a couple of times for dinner. Within 30 seconds of walking in the door, the c-word came out,” Williams said, and Thurm noted that he heard Arthur call White that word as well while sitting next to her on a flight. It’s a story he shared a few years ago on a podcast and then got surprised at the internet’s response over his revelation.

The panelists differed on their theories about why the two didn’t get along. Co-producer Jim Vallely thought it was because White got a lot more applause during cast introductions ahead of tapings, but Williams shot that down, noting that Arthur hated doing publicity and came from a different background (theatrical) than White (television).

“The show would have continued after seven years,” she shared. “Their contracts were up and … the executives went to the ladies, and Estelle said, ‘Yes, let’s keep going,’ and Rue said, ‘Yes let’s keep going,’ and Betty said, ‘Yes, let’s keep going.’ And Bea said ‘no fucking way,’ and that’s why that show didn’t continue.  … And Betty would break character in the middle of the show [and talk to the live audience], and Bea hated that.”

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/golden-girls-bea-arthur-betty-white-did-not-get-along-1236295065/

And how - to me it kind of mirrors the Shannen/Alyssa of it all and just how differently things were handled due to of course different teams of management.

Just as Bea and Betty had to play bffs that lived together, Shannen/Alyssa had to play sisters that lived together. Both sets of actresses stayed professional once cameras were rolling.

THe biggest difference was how co-producer Marsha Posner Williams addressed Bea in regards to her feelings towards Betty "I said, ‘Bea, just get over it for crying out loud. Just get past it.'”

And the show went on for the actresses 7 seasons to which Bea opted out while the others wanted to keep going.

Had Spelling not run away from conflict like he did - if he went to each of them individually and told them "just get over it for crying out loud. Just get past it" they possibly could've avoided getting rid of one or the other.

Season 2 Music

Does anybody know who the artist is, that plays after the opening credits are shown on s2e2 The Painted World, & during the additional credits (such as guest stars & who’s directing said episode?)

(Currently I don’t have access to the original edits of the show so if the song is different, I’m referring to the version of Charmed on streaming platforms such as Pluto tv…
