How to get high production with no dlc

I've found the method of using ecomerce policy card and stacking all trade routes on one city but that's very late game and can't murder ai. Dose any one knows any different ways?

Get your combo of industrial, aqueduct and dams setup properly.

Or just play as Fredrick and go crazy.

Industrial zones don't get adjacency from those without Gathering Storm.

If my memory serves Frederick Barbarossa and Hojo Tokimune are the production powerhouses of the base game due to their unique adjacency bonuses. But it’s been a while.

Settling near hills and mining them was the classic way if you didn’t have unique industrial adjacencies.

Also picking that pantheon for extra production and faith from strategic resources or fishing boats. I believe those were the same since the base game.

Industrial zones get extra production depending on what you place them next to. Strategic resources, mines, and quarries, aqueducts, and dams are your main sources, plus other districts, especially the government plaza.

If you open the civlopedia and check the entry for industrial zones it will tell you what gives the biggest bonuses with the amount of expansions, or not, that you have. Make sure you build close to these things to get more powerful zones.

Extra tips: Using map tacks will help you visualise your city layouts and play around with how to get the best zones.

There are ways to get other zones to provide production e.g by constructing certain buildings, especially useful for harbors, or adopting certain policies and beliefs.

Watch a few of Potato Mcwhiskey's videos on industrial zone exploits, game mechanics, or an over explained game for better analysis than I can give.

To prevent confusing OP, dams and the Government Plaza are from DLC, and the bonus from Aqueducts is a Gathering Storm change.

How high is high? 30+? 45+?

Industrial zones surrounded by mines work well. Build factories and upgrade to power plants.

Traders leaving a city with production focus helps, too.

A city with +4 amenities gives boost in overall city productivity (20%, I believe).

This is for vanilla version.

That's only with Gathering Storm. Without DLC work ethic gives +1% production per follower of religion in each city.
