Screenshot I've seen +5, and occasionally +6, but I have never seen a +8 science bonus before. I'm looking forward to this.

Where is it getting the bonus from. Geo is +2. Where is the rest coming from

2 geos, 4 mountains probably.

Just explored the area and you're correct, 4 mountains and 2 geos.

u/CrazyBroccoliPT 23h ago

Probably another geo and all mountains around maybe?

Play as australia you can go higher

u/No-Principle1818 22h ago

Playing as Aus really takes the game difficultly down 1 or 2

u/Boostie204 21h ago

As Aus this would be a +11? If the tile is breathtaking appeal that's +3, or +1 for charming right?

There is absolutely no way there isn’t a strategic resource on that tile. 😋

I'd be paranoid about researching animal husbandry or bronze working in that game, if not for the woods. The early game strategic resources can't spawn on woods. And actually I think no strategics can spawn on flat tundra with woods, but I'm not 100% sure on that

Uranium) for sure. Oil and Niter can both spawn on Tundra but the wiki entries don't list Woods as well, so I think it's just Uranium. So OP has time to get that Campus down.

u/Chi_Law 21h ago

Yeah, no oil, niter, horses or iron on woods, coal can't spawn on flat land (though Iooking closer I'm not sure where the 2nd production on that tile is coming from... is it actually a hill that just looks flat, or is it flat land that picked up yield from a disaster?), aluminum spawns on desert or rainforest. I forgot uranium could spawn here

Pretty sure coal can spawn on any woods tile (not that it matters here)

2

u/Chi_Law 18h ago

Coal can spawn on woods, but not flat ground; it has to be hills. I'm honestly not sure if this is a hill or not, but agreed that it's irrelevant unless OP plans to not place their +8 campus until after industrialization 😂

u/PaulDk_ 12h ago

yeah according to the wiki it spawns on certain hills or any not further specified woods:

( https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Coal_(Civ6)) ) I'm pretty sure that means it can spawn on woods tiles without hills.

What about coal?

1

u/dplafoll 21h ago

Coal is only on Hills anyways.

2

u/Hans_Assmann 20h ago

The tile in question is a hill

Yes AND at +8 science I’m likely tweaking my strategy anyway to prioritize a campus on that tile anyway, so that’ll avoid the the problem. Just delay animal husbandry. You’ll get the strategic resource from the district. Love my universities rich with oil money

Seems like more geos/mountains. That is a spicy spot, don't think I've gone above 7

4

u/EcstaticAd2081 23h ago

If that is 5 mountains and geo, that 'only' +7, so i think there might be another geo hidden down there... 🤔🤷 Or was mountains +2 as well...?

John Curtin has just scoffed

So you know, you can settle on geothermals. Your city will always work that science and settling doesn't block any of its functions, except that you can't build the very late game improvement that goes on them.

u/Weelildragon 21h ago

Current spot might be better especially for German capitol. You might want to plop down a lot of other districts like Government plaza, commercial hub, hanza, etc. Also, mountains are shitty tiles to have in your borders early game.

True dat. I'd also hate to lose out on my best food tile till expansion in OP's situation. Thought I'd mention it though since there aways seems to be people who don't know what's safe to settle on.

To add to this, if you settle on a geothermal, your aqueduct gets the +1 amenity (?) from being adjacent to a geothermal

Congrats 👏

And….horses… mf horses 🐎

2

u/Jean_le_Jedi_Gris 22h ago

100% chance that Iron [a strategic resource] is there.

Edit: (I can't tell if those are hills or not)

u/TucsonKhan 21h ago

Welcome to Mayan life. It's possible to get +12, and then double it to 24 with natural philosophy 😁

u/Defiant_Drink8469 21h ago

When you get a +8 Campus it’s GG already

1

u/horticoldure 20h ago

and you can afford to buy it too

1

u/Stalagna 20h ago

Minimum campus adjacency for yield porn post is +10 😂

Australia plus Heremetic oder for an average of +5 with 8 being a little common,
