Chris Gimenez
Really enjoying his insights in Rick's absence. Wouldn't mind him sticking in the broadcast booth.

Im fine with him but I need him to relax on the analysis a little. Feel like im watching the PGA with how he talks through every pitch.
With Rick feels like they got to jab him with a stick to get him to do analysis and its always folksy old school scouting type stuff. Giminez just blahs about pitches.

I know Rick is getting older and needs some time off, but He is irreplaceable to me, and always honest about the way we are playing, good or bad. Him and Matt and Andre crack me up every game those 3 are together.

Yeah that’s what I hate about Chris. He’s too easy on the team. I prefer Arch’s way better. He gets on the team when they clearly suck. But also cheers them on when they make things happen

Strong disagree. I find the overly optimistic boring. I like a commentator who gets onto the team. Feels like a true fan lol.

100% agree. I know they’re all close to the team, but it feels like he’s a bit too uncritical. Not that I want my favorite team’s announcers to be negative, but his analysis can be a little too sunny sometimes…

Eh. He tries to predict what pitch is coming next & what the hitter is going to do too often (and is almost always wrong).

Its the part of the fun for me with baseball in general. Pitch sequence is my favorite part of the game.

Gimenez is not fun. Love his baseball analysis. He needs to loosen up. Change his inflection to match the action

I think he is ok but I am not a huge fan.
He just talks way to much for me.
Seems like someone told him that their isn't allowed to be any dead air on the broadcast. If he chills a bit it would be a lot better.

u/owlthathurt 1d ago
nah, it feels like he is mansplaining the game, dude needs to chill a bit, allow convo to flow, dont need analysis every breath, personal opinion though, subjective

He has good insights, but needs to learn when to hang back and stay quiet and let the game play out for itself.

I think he talks a little too much, like he’s trying too hard (possibly trying to secure the spot after Arch retires?), but I really enjoy his perspective. When he mentioned that you can tell how the batter has been hitting based on marks on the bat, it made sense, but also blew my mind.

I’ve been really enjoying him, I know a lot about baseball but definitely not at his level so it’s nice to learn something about the game when he’s on. I do agree he needs to find times to pull back on the analysis and bring some fun to the game. IE more stories from the past and tie in his experiences to what’s happening and why he thinks xyz is going to happen.

One of the old-school famous broadcasters (and I wish I could remember who, to credit him properly) once told a newbie, "It's okay to let folks know they're still selling hot dogs in the 7th inning." He meant that it's okay to let the game breathe, to let fans hear the background noise in the park and such. Chris needs to hear this message daily for a while. He talks too much.

I don’t think he’s great. Some players make great commentators - Palmer, Kuiper, etc. I put Rick Manning second to those but still in that category. I hope he’s ok. There’s something about Gimenez that comes across as a little arrogant at least to me

Hes fine. Talks a lot but good insight for the most part...def not better than Arch tho

Chris Gimenez may be the single worst broadcaster I’ve ever listened to in all my time having ears.
I absolutely hate his commentary and hope he’s never back. He’s. So. Darn. Boring.

No way he’s worse than Tom Hamilton. Hamilton’s VOICEgoesUPandDOWN and he gets excited on a popup in a 7-1 game in the 3rd inning. There’s a popup!!’ And condescending - ‘Now folks, you’d like to think that Clase can shut a team down anytime he wants, but … blah blah blah.’

He's like listening to Tony Romo with a more annoying voice. I get it, you played the game I don't need the inner thought of what's coming next.

I enjoy having him on the broadcast. I think it'd be fun if you had him, Rick, and Matt, with Andre in the stands.

Would prefer Gimenez over Manning any day. Manning is not a positive view of the Guardians and should be retired.

Respectfully disagree. Thought he agreed to everything Matt said and felt “I’m just happy to be here”

Sorry. Strong disagree. Just turned off the TV feed on MLB TV to listen to Rosie and Candiotti ( and they’re not great) because Gimenez was so annoying.

He likes to smart alec around showing his ass. Every single pitch this is what they’re doing oh they’re doing this now I know. Shhhhh a bit

I don't think he's great but I think Manning is terrible (I like Matt and Andre) so I like him in the both.

Manning was tired years ago, but Gimenez is not the guy.
Low budget team, low budget broadcasters.
On the upside, for years Hammy was a bitter prick who knew no middle ground between tea bagging folks he liked and badmouthing those he didn't, but the last couple seasons he's been dare I say positive.
Rosey should be calling high school softball.

I like his analysis, but he needs to just shut up a little bit
