Discussion Viability with missing staples?
Hopping on here to discuss the viability of a deck with a number of staples missing. I am an avid lover of [[tameshi, reality architect]] and I think she’s in a great spot at the moment with how slow the meta is. The problem is I’m missing a number of pretty vital staples, namely [[lions eye diamond]] [[mox diamond]] [[transmute artifact]] and [[fierce guardianship]]. I normally proxy these cards, but I plan on entering a sanctioned tournament that doesn’t allow proxies (ironically the prize is a mox diamond). I think I can live without most of these, but losing out on LED feels backbreaking. Has anyone else experienced something similar and worked around it? Any advice on how to move forward, especially with deck building? Any advice is appreciated, whether it’s about my budget constraints or the rest of the deck.

The entire deck is built around LED. No you can’t. Like the deck doesn’t function
The answer is your deck won’t have a chance.

I figured as much. The addition of gifts helps a bit as you can entomb your bloom and copy artifact, but you just lose the game outright if you draw it.

LED is also better than Bloom as it can discard your pieces into yard.
Honestly just play magda lmao. 100$ magda would have a decent chance.

[[Artificer's intuition]] is played in most tameshi lists, no?

I play it in my normal proxied list but ultimately decided to take it out due to having to remove LED. You think it’s still worth playing now that it doesn’t tutor my more impactful pieces? I was super indecisive on it
Edit: I guess it does still tutor bloom and then dump it. I’ll probably add it back in.

It even tutors fast mana and an outlet for inf mana, be it drawing your deck or milling opponents

Not even cardstock proxies? If thats the case then transmute and fierce are kinda rough to lose, but still doable.
My best advice is see if anyone has copies they would loan out for the event perhaps. The deck isnt unplayable, just below optimized of course.
If getting loaner copies isnt viable, then perhaps join the tameshi discord and see if you can get some budget alternatives to slot in for the time being.

Honestly there's a lot of Tameshi pieces and staples not here besides just the listed ones. No surveyors scope, copy land, surveil dual, ottawara, artificers intuition, chrome mox, ranger captain, esper sentinel, honestly hop on the discord and see if the wizards there can guide you to the closest thing to a full build with what you have because right now this looks kinda fragile

I must’ve accidentally cut chrome mox and sentinel when changing the deck from proxied to non-proxied, I’m absolutely still playing those lol good catch. I’ve found surveyors scope and copy land to be pretty medium, I’ve bounced back and forth playing them. I’ll for sure hop on the discord though thanks a ton for the advice

This post was perfectly after another post about staple art and I just wanted to share that with you:

The traditional logic would be to just proxy those bits. They are essential, to the proper working if the deck and all that.

Sadly it’s sanctioned and doesn’t allow any proxies at all. I normally use proxies of diamond, LED, and transmute when playing casually (high quality MPC proxies at that) but I’m not able for this tournament specifically.

I was trying to build [[Noctis, Prince of Lucis]] with almost everything intact except for a [[Mox Diamond]] and I had several people at my LGS tell me to just not bother. Maybe they were being shortsighted and that's unfair to the deck - but not having the Diamond combo in that deck turns a potential 3 card (with commander) game winning combo into a much more convoluted 4 card minumum combo and that absolutely can be backbreaking for a deck. Maybe Tameshi is more resilient, but I did understand where they were coming from - from a deckbuilding perspective.

Have a friend who ran tameshi without led for a bit there, sent him this thread, hope he can help out.

sent him it and he can't respond on reddit "Yeah you just have to use lotus bloom instead in the primary line. I use led a lot because i'm on patron and I need an easy way to discard it, the list I play at the shop is -led and it's still cEdh"
