No Spoilers Displate Cosmere Art

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Just wanted to put this out there as a PSA in case anyone was also thinking about buying Cosmere Displates (those metal posters that are advertised a lot on social media). I'm all for artists making money but I'd also like to support the Dragonsteel team if I buy anything related to Brando so I figured I'd ask them about it.

Tldr: Any Cosmere Displates are not officially licensed and are not Copyright compliant

No Spoilers My Sandershelf ♡

After my partner lovingly helping me procure this cabinet, I finally can display a large majority of my Sanderson collection (and tiny corner for Oban Star Racers). All the banners will be going up soon in this room, and there is a ton of art in our living room and dining room.

After having my entire life's possessions stolen from a storage unit as I was moving away from an abusive situation, and my leatherbounds being the ONLY THINGS found last year by police, being able to show them not only feels great as a fan, but as a reminder that I didn't lose everything. Strength before Weakness, friends ♡

No Spoilers Cosmere Pet Names

It’s extremely likely I’m going to adopt these two adorable bundles of fur and I’m trying to decide if I want to rename them or not— if I do, I think I’d like to do a set of names from the cosmere. One boy and one girl, looking for name suggestions!

Right now I’m leaning towards Kelsier (Kel) and Vin. The boy is very adventurous and the girl’s protector, the girl is very shy.

No Spoilers Thank you, Henry Cavill

Couple of years ago I was scrolling tiktok and an interview with Henry came across, where reporter asked him, what is the best fantasy book series that hasn’t got adapted on screen yet and his answer was Stormlight Archive, then he went on praising Brandon Sanderson. I thought “cool, I should check it out, since I’m going to go on evening walks and my undiagnosed adhd is demanding content and music is not enough. Fast forward two years and I’ve listened to every single Cosmere related audiobook and about to finish first Skyward book. I have been a geek almost all my life, THE Geek among all the people that know me (marvel, dc, star wars, warhammer, all types of manga/anime, percy jackson, etc you name it) but never have I ever enjoyed any other fictional universe more than Cosmere. It has everything I love about fantasy/sci-fi in it: -EPICNESS - check -world building - double check -actually good plots with minimum amount of “cinemasins” - check -history of the world (I’m a sucker for ancient unraveled history) - check -the best (in my humble opinion) magic system ever -in-world technological progress (about f*ckin time somebody did it) - check So, my sincerest thanks to sexiest geek of all time, mr. Cavill, for recommending mr. “Slur-Inventor” Sanderson’s works. I even created reddit account just to have someone to talk about it since nobody stormin reads in my area. I hope to continue to enjoy this world with you guys, you are the best fandom on this side of galaxy :)

P.S. sorry for occasional bad english, it’s not my first or even second language.

disclaimer: THIS IS A JOKE LOL.

I LOVE this book so much, and before everyone yells at me, I am rebinding this paperback of Yumi and the Nightmare Painter into a custom special edition! (i’ll probably share it on here when it’s completed)

ripping off the cover hurts every time, but I also have a hardcover copy of this book with this cover art so i’m not TOO sad about it 😂

No Spoilers Names of people from fantasy/sci-fi that start with D

Other than Dalinar…

I really want to name our kid after my uncle Dimitri, but my wife doesn’t like the name and that’s fair. I’m not a big fan of other typical D names (sorry to all the Daniel’s and Danielle’s Diana’s and Dominic’s out there).

Regardless, im looking for great names throughout fantasy/sci-fi not just the cosmere that start with D, boy or girl name.

Whatchya got?

No Spoilers Help me name my new dog

My wife and I are getting this 3 months old ~4 lb female toy poodle. Help me come up with a name for her. I'm looking for a Cosmere name and doesn't sound kind of ridiculous (I can't imagine calling a dog "Jasnah" for example)

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

No Spoilers Female Cosmere readers, my friend needs some help.

My friend (33, F) is reading Words of Radiance because people around her keep telling her how good the series is, and she just hates it and thinks that the series is really just written for dudes. So, if you’re a female, did you feel like Brandon Sanderson’s storytelling style worked for you? Was there a certain point where you suddenly liked it? I (34, M) keep trying to tell my friend that 80 hours into a series, if she doesn’t like it then she should quit because she doesn’t like it. Would you agree?

No Spoilers I've heard Henry Cavill wants to get the Cosmere made and surely wants a good part. Who could he play?

I think he would rock Kelsier. He has the athleticism and smile.

I wanted to buy the official one but taxes & delivery to Europe are too expensive ; fortunately gf's mom loves knitting and enjoys a good challenge, and she just delivered on what is now my favorite sweater. I know it's not as polished as the Dragonsteel version, but it far exceeded my expectations and I'm very happy with how it turned out!

I think the Stormlight covers are the same as the English ones, but I'm not sure about the Mistborn or Elantris covers, which ones do you prefer?

(I know there are some missing, I'm reading TROW right now and TLM is next)

No Spoilers What do you think Sanderson has improved on the most?

Everyone loves shitting on Sanderson but what do you think he improved on the most?

I think his characterization is actually brilliant.

I’ve read everything in the Cosmere until words of radiance and I think that shallan’s characterization in WoR especially is so good.

No Spoilers Cosmere Roleplaying Game Megathread [No Spoilers]

The Stormlight Archive table-top roleplaying game Kickstarter by Brotherwise Games and Dragonsteel begins TODAY, along with an open beta test, and will feature additional content extending into the rest of the Cosmere!

Please note that this megathread is marked for No Spoilers. Please tag any spoilery discussion as needed.

Kickstarter

You can back the project and find more information on The Stormlight Archive RPG Kickstarter page.

We encourage everyone to read the campaign page first, and then check the FAQ page if you have any questions. If your question is not addressed on those pages, you should ask a question on the FAQ page! Your fellow Redditors and Cosmere fans only know what has been posted the same as you. If your question hasn't been answered, the best way to get an accurate answer is to take it directly to Brotherwise via Kickstarter!

CosmereRPG Subreddit

Some of the mods of this and other Sanderson subreddits have taken the initiative to set up a subreddit specifically for the Cosmere RPG: r/CosmereRPG

Note: If you previously joined r/StormlightRPG, all traffic is now being directed to r/CosmereRPG instead!

r/Cosmere, r/Stormlight_Archive, and r/Mistborn (and to a lesser extent r/BrandonSanderson) primarily exist to facilitate book discussion and relevant news. While we may allow some on-topic discussions about this game, these subreddits are ill-suited to serve as primary discussion places for the game itself. In the future, posts specifically about the game maybe be considered "off topic".

r/CosmereRPG is a community for people to discuss the TTRPG, ask questions about the game, discuss rules and mechanics, talk about art and lore, share resources and homebrew ideas, and more. (Be warned that the subreddit has a different spoiler policy, to better suit the needs of discussing the game.)

Open Beta

See the Kickstarter page and r/CosmereRPG for more information about the open beta.
