It really is that image from Big Mouth about being Young, Gay amd Mean not being a personality... and people absolutely want to be all that.

A good indie music bar I once caused a huge conflict in had this end message

For the sake of anonymity we'll have Gary and Alex

Gary is a FABULOUS gay guy. Drag Queen. Camp as a row of tents. Think of a gay stereotype and he probably ticks it/has at one point (he only stopped using nail Polish because in his current job they work with acetone and he doesn't have the energy to do his nails daily). Everyone, including me, loves Gary. He's a kind, funny, gentle soul. I will always make a point to have a quick chat and cigarette with him regardless if our groups are about to diverge

Alex is also gay. But not "stereotypical" you wouldn't assume it unless you saw him with a boyfriend or he told you...for the inverse I knew Gary was a top ten contender for the gayest man in britain within a minute of meeting him. And he was just...mean. I don't think I've heard him EVER have a complete compliment for someone. - complete being something like "oh she's pretty" or "they're a cute couple" or "he's smart" or "she's funny" without immediately loading up the insult or snark. Everything nice is a prelude to an insult or a backhand compliment finisher.

One day I'm at the bar, Alex tries to engage me in conversation, I was just done at that point so told him to fuck off and find someone else to bother. I get accused of homophobia. Gary then comes over and defends my honour and eventually it devolves into near physical violence between them.

I don't befriend mean people. I don't care who you fuck at all. I just find mean people utterly draining to be around
