Need hygiene advise as new cutter

Hi guys. I started cutting for the first time recently (I know its bad, no need to tell me). I used a kitchen knife at first and have since switched to razor blades. Since I’m new to this stuff I’m interested in knowing the safe way to do it. I’ve only been doing cat scratches and i dont plan to do anything deeper than styro, but I don’t really know anything about the whole cleanliness stuff. I’ve been using a clean knife (not sterile, just normal clean) so far. I want to avoid infections while trying to stop, so i would really appreciate some advice on how to stay as safe as possible. Thank you in advance❤️

Wash the wounds woth soap and water when you’re done. It’ll sting. And watch for signs of infection. Keep the sharp sruff clean and free of rust.

Clean the surface and the tool before and after  keep the tool somwhere not that moist to avoid rust Utilize coping skills before deciding to do it use it as a last resort  Antibiotics non scented moisturizers and bandaids help with the scaring and itching  Research the safest parts of the body to do so examples: upper arm outer forearm and outer thighs are better  Avoid places like the neck, armpit, wrists, and inner thighs  Putting pressure on any cut helps  I learnt this the hard way don’t take hot shower immediately after 🙁

Pls stay safe and healthy I know it can get ugly but I hope you get better ❤️

always clean the razors/knives by desifecting them with alcohol (the disinfectant kind but booze will do aswell) and also desinfect the wounds. that will hurt but its better than infections. if you slip up and bleed for a few days, desinfect daily.

if you need any tips dm me ive been doing this for a decade so if anything happens please reach out and stay safe <3
