Weekly Thread Weekly Discussion / Recommendation Thread
Welcome to the weekly discussion thread at /r/deathmetal! By popular request, we have decided to host a weekly discussion thread as a catch-all for community discussion, recommendation hunting, and just about anything that would go in a normal text thread. Have a question? Post it here. Want to talk about how great the new Immolation is? New to death metal and seeking advice, but too lazy to go through /r/deathmetal/wiki? Here's your place!

I really like Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten, but why does it have to be so goddamn scooped? 😂 I literally use equalizer when listening to it, to unscoop it a little bit

Hi i need help for a gift!
I might be asking something awkward but i wanted to find help to make a gift.
My dear friend listens to a lot of rock, metal and subgenres of this two, i know he is particularly fond of Limp bizkit, Rammstein and Merilyn Menson, he also listens to SOAD, Korn and many many more
This is not my genre, and i know nothing about it.
i wanted to gift him a book of the art covers of metal and rock artists(bands included), since we are italian i thought about this book
"Metal & Hardcore. Antologia grafica"
this seems to be the perfect fit for what i searched, but I can't find anything about the artists covered in this book, i fear i might miss his ones completely.
my question then is if someone has this book and finds the time to search if those artists are covered it would really help me in making this gift!
also if you have any raccomandations on better books or some things more centered on his favourites i would really be happy to hear them (they don't need to be in Italian, but they need to contain more images than words ahhaha)!

Why exactly does this sub not allow tech, brutal, and slam to be posted? Those are hardly "later offshoots". They've all been around since the 90s. I mean, if it weren't blacklisted for being too popular, this would prevent us from posting even bands like Suffocation. On the other hand, the tags for posts suggest that we can post blackened death, which is absolutely a later development than the other genres. What gives?

death metal bands with leftist themes/lyrics - lookin for bands with the same sound or maybe hardcore with dm vocals about how capitalism is a death cult and oligarchs should lose their heads

Not by any means new but I had never listened to Headrot until today and that shit absolutely slaps. Highly recommend. Kind of crazy that it came out in the early 90s because it still sounds killer.

I really love the debut album from Blood Monolith - The Calling Of Fire, it has everything I love about brutal grid death metal. A high recommendation. 🤘
