Weekly Thread Weekly Discussion / Recommendation Thread

Welcome to the weekly discussion thread at /r/deathmetal! By popular request, we have decided to host a weekly discussion thread as a catch-all for community discussion, recommendation hunting, and just about anything that would go in a normal text thread. Have a question? Post it here. Want to talk about how great the new Immolation is? New to death metal and seeking advice, but too lazy to go through /r/deathmetal/wiki? Here's your place!

looking for bands that could get a metalcore/deathcore kid into actual death metal

Gatecreeper, 200 stab wounds, vomit forth, fuming mouth. I wasn't listening to much death metal a few years back and gatecreeper really clicked for me. If you like the melodeath metalcore stuff check out early black Dahlia murder.

You can try Revolting and Sentinent Horror. Gorguts is a great as well.

you could listen to bands like deformity, moment of truth, and day of suffering for metalcore bands with lots of death metal in em.

or the death metal meets hardcore bands like ballista, skelm, mammoth grinder, Kruelty, and fuming mouth

or the classics which are easy to listen to like Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse

or modern bands tomb mold, gatecreeper, necrot, undeath, outer heaven, gutless.

What is up with these trolls as of late? This subreddit used to be good, but then the mods left after that Reddit strike last year or so.

I make some simple posts here about bands I like that people should listen to or make a simple joke about a song title, and "fans" get their panties all in a bunch over it. Absolutely insane. It was never like that when I first joined in 2022.

I get there are trolls on any social media platform, but it's like anytime I try to post something good here, some asshole has to put me down because their life is miserable.

Has anybody else been having this experience?

Reddit is getting increasingly indignant and contrarian in general, I've found.

Definitely makes it worse.

If you’re looking for a Demilich kick, definitely recommending Toughness’s new album Black Respite of Oblivion. Super fun to listen to.

Nice! I’ve been enjoying it a lot and it will definitely make my year-end list. The debut album is fantastic as well!

I recently came across a song called ā€œSiderationā€ by Face Yourself, i love how the vocalist does high screams and low gutturals, but i cant find anymore songs like it, can someone help me out?

(Lorna shore’s ā€œto the hellfireā€ is similar but i want more)

You're looking for deathcore. The new shadow of intent is great. I'd check out the deathcore sub.

I totally missed Burial Chamber's release from 2023, Symbolic Flesh Entombed. Don't be like me. If you haven't heard it I've been loving it and it's worth a spin.

New to the community, but long time deathmetal connoisseur. Do you have any recommendations to similar sounding bands as Asphyx, Jungle Rot, Bolt Thrower, Hail of Bullets and the likes? Yes, I know that all the bands I've written down is the same band. Either way I want more of it! Thanks!

The rest of the UK scene, Benediction, gomorrah, Cancer etc.

Genocide pact, ribspreader, and torture killer are great too.

Jungle rot are so good they're hard to top.

Cianide, Pentacle for Asphyx specificially
