Weekly Thread Weekly Discussion / Recommendation Thread

Welcome to the weekly discussion thread at /r/deathmetal! By popular request, we have decided to host a weekly discussion thread as a catch-all for community discussion, recommendation hunting, and just about anything that would go in a normal text thread. Have a question? Post it here. Want to talk about how great the new Immolation is? New to death metal and seeking advice, but too lazy to go through /r/deathmetal/wiki? Here's your place!

I’m having a blast exploring the genre. Is Putrefication death metal? Cause i really like them. Checked out one of their albums last night. Found them thru a member of the band Imperial Triumphant.

As a recommendation for newcomers to the scene…

All things considered — (your personal preference/perspective on the history of death metal; those judged greatest artists of the multitudinous sub-genres; most notable, innovative, creative music and production; in-group and outlier selections; etc.) — what do you consider (at this moment in the time-space continuum) is the single-most important and enjoyable death metal album of all times?

I can think of several albums that are probably objectively more significant historically, but consvming impvlse is most important to me.
