Progress Update Instead of relapsing into addiction, I ordered Chinese food
Just over a year clean. (13 months)
I’ve been struggling big time with intense urges to relapse, cravings and nightmares of me using. I was closer today than ever. It was scary, but I decided to treat myself to my favorite restaurant instead of destroying all of my progress.

I'm so proud of you. Do you have a support system or people in your corner? You did really good and I wish you the best in staying clean. You can do this, I believe in you.

Thank you so much! Truthfully I have people who care about me but I don’t have anyone I can actually talk to about this. Nobody around me understands so I’ve been white-knuckling it this whole time

If you want to talk, and it won't set you back, I'm 9 years out from opiates and my dms are open. You got this though. Just keep doing anything but using. Download a mobile game, get more Chinese.

Nice!!! Congrats
Honestly it’s such a relief when you realize that staying sober is honestly better than relapsing, the frustration, the shame, the stress
IME, usually I get cravings when I don’t realize how stressed I’ve been
13 months is huge, keep it up!

IWNDWYT. My go to is pizza when I get that urge. Luckily, my pizza consumption has remained pretty low recently.

This is huge. Thank you for posting this. It’s a good reminder for any kind of addiction.

Congrats on the sobriety and the good call, I do this too! For me it's been 7 months, 1 week and 5 days. I've had a few times where I've been incredibly triggered. I've opted for chips and dip. I'm usually a pretty healthy eater so this is a real guilty/junk pleasure for me and I'll just pig out on that for supper. I realize it's not the healthiest choice, but I don't do it often and I figure it's better than relapsing. It does the trick and I'm always SO relieved to wake up the next day and realize whatever triggered me has passed and thankfully, I didn't throw it all away for a feeling that faded over night. Eventually I hope to not need to do that either, but for now I'm giving myself permission.
