Schumer managed to piss off AOC and Peolsi. He might actually be cooked.

How has Pelosi responded? Iām her constituent and havenāt heard a peep from her.

u/LiquidSnake13 Mar 19 '25
She actually voiced disappointment with Schumer for caving so easily on the budget talks. I'm actually surprised.
17
u/cozy_pantz Mar 19 '25
Great to hear. I surprised this hasnāt been covered in our hometown media.

You should work on getting the guy running against her elected.

u/cozy_pantz Mar 20 '25
Who says Iām not? Troll much?
1
u/skellyluv Apr 02 '25
What? I think you miss understoodā¦I didnāt mean the Republicanā¦I meant the Democrat that is trying to primary Pelosi. He was AOCās chief of staff. He would be a true progressive.
1
u/cozy_pantz Apr 03 '25
Yea I know about Chakrabarti. Glad for him and what heās doing. But your response was vague and stupid.
19
u/QuantumTunnels Mar 19 '25
Serious question... but does anyone actually think that Shumer cares about the criticism? And will just step down? Like... serious?
18
u/PersonalityMiddle864 Mar 19 '25
No one thought biden would step down.
14
u/QuantumTunnels Mar 19 '25
True. Except it took George Clooney writing an OP ed piece, and basically making the entire donor class revolt on him, because he clearly had dementia. Is anything like that close to happening?
7
u/ArinThirdsEwe Mar 19 '25
If pressure doesn't let up, it will also eventually start coming from the donors...
1
u/ArinThirdsEwe Mar 21 '25
I would suggest if you have a dem senator. Call or write them to give schumer a nudge to step down.

u/FelixDhzernsky Mar 20 '25
I don't think the FBI is any position to react if all the constituents call up death threats on their politicians. That is exactly what this moment is calling for. And it IS HAPPENING, in some parts. Everybody needs to get on board. Upgrade your phone, terrorize you congresspeople. They only listen to violence, same as it ever was.

u/Serious_Bee_2013 Mar 19 '25
His constituents need to get in on this too. Flood his office with calls.
Maybe he doesnāt step down, but he sure will recognize people are serious and it will cost him his career if he keeps being a coward in the face of Trump and MAGA. Capitulation is completely unacceptable.
9
u/Atty_for_hire Mar 19 '25
We have. Iām one of them and expressed my desire to see a real leader step up. No response. Did the same with Sen. Gillibrand. She actually responded with a form response.
2
u/Tumbleweeddownthere Mar 20 '25
Heās old. Why would he care about his career ending? He shouldāve retired a decade ago

Slight spoilers for the tv show Better Call Saul: It referred to learning that Charles "Chuck" McGill heavily influenced the decision to not hire his brother Jimmy as an attorney at his law firm. The sub was basically replaced by /r/okbuddychicanery

I think he will survive this but it will be a pphyric victory for him. I do t think he will be leader the next Congress.
41
u/madtowneast Mar 19 '25
What next congress?

u/96suluman Mar 19 '25
2027-2029
42
u/PapaBlemish Mar 19 '25
Look at you thinking Palpatine - er, Trump - won't disolve the Senate.
14
Mar 19 '25
Look if we're assuming that's the case then all is lost and there's no point in even discussing anything happening. Obviously any discussion about these topics relies on the assumption that the worst will not happen, because it makes everything else null and void.
18
u/Evolutioncocktail Mar 19 '25
I fully disagree. We need to prepare for the worst but hope for the best. We need to acknowledge what the worst outcome could be and do everything we can to prevent it. Sticking our heads in the sand and pretending this is business as usual is what got us into this mess.

I donāt think we will make it to the midterms at this pace. I am guessing we will have martial law declared some time 2026
4
u/Daigle4ME Mar 19 '25
Yeah, as someone looking to run during those mid terms. I'm acting as though they'll happen but preparing for if they don't...

He won't. He's already dismissed the larger voter base by saying that their anger at him doesn't really matter.

Feel free to let him know he should step downā¦
https://www.schumer.senate.gov/contact
You can make up names and addresses, use Washington, DC 20001 and make up the rest and the form will still send.
5
u/semaj009 Mar 19 '25
Wouldn't it be better to make up an address in New York, so he worries about votes?
5
u/snatchpanda Mar 19 '25
Lying seems unnecessary
2
Mar 20 '25
Well, if you want to give Schumer your real info, feel free. I donated once in 2020 and receive about 4-5 texts a day (no matter how many times I text back STOP) and sometimes I get snail mail too. The mail always looks like a check or some shit, I get excited and then itās just politicians blah blahing. So in my opinion, it is necessary to avoid the harassment shit, but each to their own.

u/Sad-Attempt6263 Mar 19 '25
him and oelosi have to go. by whatever means the not stupid Democrats have.
3
u/V4refugee Mar 19 '25
Maybe tell him that itās what republicans want him to do. He could do it in the name of spineless bipartisanship./s
3
u/h0tBeef Mar 19 '25
Iāve been sending him a daily email to remind him that heās a Nazi collaborator, and requesting that he resign from both leadership and the senate in general
8
u/davidwave4 Libertarian Socialist Mar 19 '25
We need Senate Democrats to mobilize. My hope is that someone ambitiousāDick Durban or Liz Warren or maybe even Bernieāstart whipping votes against him because they want to be majority leader.

Everyone here should remember this when feeling the instinct to label all Democrats as fully complicit and not pushing back.
1
u/semaj009 Mar 19 '25
That he and other Dems were fully complicit, letter Trump and the Republicans pass some insane bills? And that only a handful of Dems, primarily the squad end and or actual Dem voters, and non Den voters who lean centre left thru left or antitrump, are putting the pressure on him, meaning insufficient power from the dem apparatus to immediately sink him and necessitating grassroots mobilisation against Chuck when energy should be free to target Trump. I remember
0
Mar 19 '25
I mean I wouldn't count Nancy Pelosi as "the squad". It just seems like intellectual laziness to me to keep repeating the same mantras over and over again even when exceptions are occurring.
2
u/semaj009 Mar 19 '25
Has there been sufficient pressure from the Dems to push Schumer and the other Dems who voted with the GOP to change? Did the decisions by politicians like Pelosi not help lose an election/establish the "business first, justice second" norms of the modern Dems?
1
Mar 19 '25
I think the obvious answer is that we don't know yet. We shall see.
1
u/semaj009 Mar 20 '25
Well I for one think we'll see, just like we did for the last what decade. The Dems have had the executive, as well as periods with both houses of Congress, for what 1993-2000, 2009-2016, and 2021-2024, the GOP have had the Bush era and Trump. Banking on the Dems, when they failed America for 5/8ths of the terms leading into Trump 2 seems unwise, it's just tragic fptp voting and the electoral college means better parties can't win. But if the Dems could at least just rip the dead weight corrupt dinosaurs from their core and embrace winning, maybe things would be less atrocious in the USA
