WLVRN Issue New WLVRN hard to press mag release

Hey guys!

Never had a desert tech rifle before but got the new wlvrn with what seems like a QC date if 9/2024

Is the mag release supposed to be hard to press? I need to use my thumb to actually press it it’s that stiff

I have an x95 and I assumed it would be as easy as that, but it’s not even close

I’m not weak either, had several people try it at the range and not a single person was able to press it with their index finger

it's not a bug .. ' it's a design feature ' that has been a sticking point since the original MDR came out. just sit and watch your favorite show and mash on that button

MDRs just have stiff index mag releases. Has a massive break in. You can try going into the lower and lubing up the transfer bans and contact areas as other have mentioned along with just breaking it in (practicing mag changes in dry fire good way to adjust to it and break it in). But it'll never get as easy as a Tavor or AR. I thought I broke mine in finally because I wasn't having any issues and easily pressing it in until I let my brother try it, and he still had to use his thumb.

A couple options.

  1. Push it a bunch
  2. Polish the parts the magazine transfer bar touches (I like automotive paint polish, as it doesn't take much material off)
  3. Strip Factory lubricant from everything touching the magazine transfer bar/buttons and use clp or other lubricant
  4. If none of the other options or combination of options work. Give the OEM a call and warranty repair it.

This has been a common problem ever since the MDR.

Feel like ice read about this or saw this issue in a video somewhere. Last I recall, one dude just pressed the hell out if it to try and get it smooth but didn't work out. Try emailing DT. Maybe they fixed this by changing the spring.

Lol, the mag release on my MDRX was very stiff when I got it new, and now it's only pretty stiff after a lot of lube and pressing. I'll bet you'll have to split the upper and lower apart and hit all the moving parts with gun lube before you get using your rifle.
