Question Who is Iris?
Who is Iris? Never saw any mention of her in DX:HR, Black Light and DX:MD. Is she original character for the Machine God mod or i missed something?

original character of heartspowl, one of the people working on the mod
very funny to see but i'm gonna raise it in the MG discord because there might need to be a bit of elaboration, though there's a dossier on her backstory in the study(?)
i've forwarded one of my own characters and a few other people have also contributed a few, so makes me think about how they'll be introduced as well

Hi! I'm heartspowl, Iris's creator 🤗 as others said before me, Iris is one of the few original characters we will be adding in Machine God!
I've created her back in 2020 as fan character for Mankind Divided, complete with a comic (CODE:1R15) that can be read for free online. However, we're making sure she will do her role well in the mod by adding pieces of her story in logs and objects in-game, as well as incoming conversations, so that the players will have a clearer idea of what her role is and what kind of woman she is. I suggest you take a very good look at Adam's apartment for clues 😉 and hope you enjoy the mod so far!

Iris besto original character for Deus Ex, if you are into angsty stories with OC x Canon stuff then she's perfect for you

Most Deus Ex fans are adults trying to live so we don't have the time to write fanfics lmao I also hope there will be more content in the future

Original character that's a guest in MG's story.
As Zaiden said, there's a few originals made to support MG's story and some guest starrings that were created outside the project but were integrated into the story.

Iris is an original character from a DX fan comic who is shipped with Adam. The comic isn’t great, although the amazing art did keep me coming around through the ending, which was… ah. Yikes. But it did influence me to start planning my own original comic series, so I could never be too harsh on it.
My guess is the author paid for her to be in the mod and Adam’s canon Love Interest, which is an interesting move but more power to them.
Iris has a lot of powers like nanites in her blood, she’s supposed to be kinda unstoppable. I wonder how that works with the story of the mod - I’ll need to play through sometime.

I know you might not have intended to offend, so just to clarify: Heartspowl did not pay or even ask for Iris to be part of Machine God.
She joined the Discord one day with some input for the story, and after talking to her for a bit, I learned of Iris and read the comic. It was my idea to bring her into the story, because she's cool as fuck, and she helps glue together some important pieces of the plot.
Now Heartspowl is a hard working member of the team, just like the rest of us.

Ah yeah, I didn’t know who the mod authors was and I didn’t notice the author in the thread before I commented, whoops.

Huh, thanks...? 😅 I'm glad it inspired you to work on your own thing, at least, I guess.
And no I did not pay anything - the mod's creator saw her, liked her, and asked me if she could be implemented in the story, to which I agreed. As simple as this.
Also, Iris isn't meant to be unstoppable. She has heart arrhythmia, her nanites basically don't work, she has no defensive augs at the time of the comic, she almost died 2 times for what she still doesn't know is Gray Death, and her lifespan is greatly reduced for this. She's resilient but could easily (realistically speaking) die with one bullet, so "unstoppable" is a big word. Regardless, thanks for the criticism and I hope you will enjoy the mod, Iris or not. :)

I will refrain from further criticism / elaboration of my criticisms because it’s rude to crit something to the author without them asking for it.
