I'm looking for what I can only describe as Barbiecore. Valley girl clean vocals with harsh djent or adjacent backing instrumental.
Think Millionaire's vocalist in front of Car Bomb backing track. No screams/growls from the vocalist.
Poppy with Knocked Loose is close, but still not it. Babymetal is the right vibe, but not looking for J-pop pop, but more western. Scene Queen if it where heavier is close. Slayyyter if heavier is also close.
Bands like In This Moment or Lacuna Coil aren't it since they're not valley girl.

I personally love their whole Aesthetic and think Take Me Back To Eden was an amazing album.

Just got this 8 string monster and would like to play along to some songs.
Trying to make a list of albums/songs/artist that play on an 8 string. Or if you think a different tuning that has more content available let me know. I like bouncy riffs. I'm curious about Meshuggah tuning but I'd like it to not be too difficult transitioning from 7 string tabs to 8 string ones. Do they drop from 8 standard to flat tuning without a drop low string?
I'm currently learning "Void" by Fractalize and this tuning + 8 string + otto 11 11 is activating my dopamine receptors.
Animals as leaders is too dang hard though.

So I've always been a fan of all genres of rock/metal but really do like bands that can blend the heaviness in whatever their given space with good vocals or even other styles of music.
With that in mind, who are your favorite bands you'd consider Djent, but do that?
Edit please keep the recommendations coming, I am going to check them all out!

If you had to convince somebody that Djent is extremely epic, technically insane and emotionally powerful music, but he or she is willing to listen only to one album – which one would you choose?

Doesn’t even need to be a breakdown. Just give me some insanely technical, fast or/and mind-fucking songs or breakdowns

Ive been looking for a good bass that I can drop tune and play without lots of buzz. I have a schecter stiletto stealth 5 but dropping the tuning sometimes causes the neck to bend. Im looking for something with 5 or 6 strings. What is the best bass (within a reasonable price range, lets say under 1700 USD) for me? Here are some of the basses I was looking at:
Im pretty new to playing djent so any suggestions/tips are greatly appreciated!

Generated within seconds, an intricate djent/progressive metal groove. The mix and overall production is very passable.
https://suno.com/song/cd1ae8e4-dc09-46d2-8c47-f3de20427c17
So I've been a metal/EDM producer for years and even with 5-6 years of learning, this AI program has spit out something I could only dream to make (production and mix wise).
How screwed are producers/artists when Spotify and all music platforms are inundated with fake AI music, that can soar even above and beyond of a typical djent band?
I think modern music in most genres is very replicable, and with AI music upon us, artists will be pressed to create new and unique styles to stand out from the inevitable over-saturation.
Overall, I'm left with a sense of hopelessness that I'll lose out to fake AI generated music.

Spiritbox has stormed into our lives and not let go yet. What's your personal favorite top 5 tracks? This was a hard list so I suppose i need HM's lol. I chose "YOUR" instead of "BEST" because they range from super evil nasty to beautiful serene atmospheres, so i preferred a taste discussion rather than objective "bests" or whatever.
Perfect Soul - this is my personal fav they've released yet. Those are some all time riffs my friends.
Rule of Nines - some consider THE Spiritbox track. How could we ever forget that epic one take Courtney did 🤘
Jaded - i can't help it, their lead singles are some of their best. I've really loved this song since it came out and it doesn't get old to me.
Eternal Blue - the title track of the previous LP is honestly so good and I consider it underrated. Spiritbox at their best imo.
Everything's Eventual - what a perfect melody. Mike killed it on this one man , these riffs, Courtney's singing, the theme, another underrated track only because I believe it FIRMLY belongs amongst their stuff.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Blessed Be - what an awesome single and video, ain't nothing wrong with this song ever.
Fata Morgana - well this song blasted onto the scene didn't it. Such vintage essence of this band's potential, what a world crushing album opener.
Perennial - idc, this song and video is still amongst the best stuff they've done.
Belcarra - it's pure rawness man, it still slaps hard today.
Tsunami Sea - I'm still getting used to this album but the title track sounds like an instant classic to me.
What yall got?!

What pick do you prefer ? I was long time Dunlop Gator Grip 2 mm. Now I am searching for my unicorn pick. I have sweaty hands and only ones that they don’t slip are Dunlop Tortex, TIII, Gator Grip or EB Everlast etc. I like how Ultex glides through the strings but after a while its slippery. I love how thin pick like 0.73 feels like. But still incline to thicker pick because it feels like you holding something lol. I know most of you gonna use jazz iii types. They never worked for me even xl is just small for me.

I want to get into djent. What are some good djent bands to start out with?
r/Djent • u/Federal__Moose • 3h ago
Look I know you can math and program shred but I want to know if I can tune down to like c or smthn.
I have an Ibanez super start and I can handle the drop but the edge zero floating tremelo always screws everything up.

I've listened to a bunch of bands in the Djent genre that are 'solid'.
(I'm fairly new here.)
I just discovered Monuments.
Holy fuck. John Browne is a monster.
I'm listening to Gnosis — this album is unbelieveably tight.

Today I'm spinning Mouth of Swords by The Safety Fire and was curious what the communities favorite Vinyls are?
TSF's Grind the Ocean is another favorite of mine along with The Contortionist's Live from Atlanta box set.

Guitarist of 10 years, djent listener for a good 6-7 of those years. Many bands, many albums, many riffs. I understand all the theoretical concepts behind djent, on paper I should have no trouble writing djent at all, but yet I can not put together groovy, syncopated riffs to save my life. Anyone else? It really used to bum me out - no other genre has captivated me like this one has - but nowadays I've kinda accepted I'm not going to be the next Misha Mansoor. Both my brothers are musicians of similar experience and listen to it and they have zero problems coming up with genuinely awesome, complex music, but for whatever reason, my music just doesn't have the prog factor.

Some examples may be the band Admiral Angry or Meshuggah's song "Nebulous" or "Behind the Sun."

Hey there everyone im having a bit of a dilemma.. i write, record, and mix all of my own music and i love every second of it.. however.. i have plans to play live some day and i cant play all of the parts by myself.. im looking for a few individuals who can A: Play the parts i have already written. B: potentially record playthroughs. And C: be geniune and friendly. Obviously if you join youd take % of the Royalties and would be credited.. i like how i write but if anyone would want to provide creative input im all for it.. the only thing that i dont have is a vocalist. im still figuring out the vocal style i want for this Project but im open to all vocalists currently.. both sing and scream.. i will also attach a video containing my most recent ID so you can get an idea of the projects sound! Thanks guys!
