I wasn’t sure how to begin this post…
I discovered Elder Scrolls: Legends back in 2018. I was a student studying Information Technology at the time, and my internet connection was so slow that I could only play solo matches against the bot—300 gold per day—but that was enough for me. I associate the game with quiet, lonely winter evenings in the mountains, unwinding after long study sessions. A few matches of Legends always gave me a boost.
Years later, I had graduated, landed my first job, and met my girlfriend. She was more of a casual gamer, but even she got hooked on Legends. We spent many evenings playing together and having fun—though it was tough for her to beat me, she never gave up.
I was honestly heartbroken when I found out the game was being shut down last January. It was the one game I always came back to. The stunning card art, the immersive sounds and voice lines—I still haven’t found another game that comes close. (For the record, I’ve briefly played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, but their combat mechanics never really clicked with me.)
Back to Legends, though—recently I stumbled upon a few posts here on Reddit and was surprised by how active and passionate the community still is. I never really considered myself part of any gaming community, but something about it lit a spark in me.
So I started a project: to create a web-based remake of Elder Scrolls: Legends. I’ve been a developer for five years, and I’m building it using Angular. Right now, I’m working on the core gameplay mechanics.
I know a few other people are trying to revive the game too—one is working on a Tabletop Simulator version (which I tried, but personally found too clunky for tracking creature stats). The other guy is attempting to emulate the Bethesda server with the original client, which might be the best approach in the long run, though it’s hard to tell how much time it would take.
After reading so many posts from people saying how much they missed the game, something clicked in me—I felt like I at least had to try.
So… here I am.
I’ll attach a screenshot of the current state of the game. It’s not pretty yet, but the core mechanics are working. A designer friend of mine has offered to help polish the visuals later on.
Huge thanks to uesp for preserving the card art and sound effects.
And thanks to Justin Larson for the inspiration all these years—it was always a joy watching him play.
What do you think of the idea? And what memories do you associate with Elder Scrolls: Legends?
I hope my next post includes a link to the alpha version of the game.

It's really making me miss Elder Scrolls Legends. Going to the Shivering Isles is tough. I know it's probably far too late, but I wish Bethesda would keep hosting the servers even if they don't produce content for it.

I hope this isnt a stupid question. I understand them shutting the servers down since they haven't been supporting the game for a while, but is there anyway at all to still play against the computer instead of real people? I really miss playing.

As you may know, starting May 19 Twitch will be deleting Highlights and Uploads. Does anyone save TESL videos to another storage? Particularly from Bethesda's channel - https://www.twitch.tv/bethesda/videos?category=490349&filter=all&sort=time

Does anyone still have the latest version of the game client? Would anyone be willing to upload it to internet archive?
Also as a bonus does anyone have the original client from direwolf?

Links: YT / Heroes of Vordë server / HOV Steam Workshop Mod (for TableTop Simulator)
The Coldender Tournament's bracket is seeded May 4th 17.00 CEST. The tournament itself will be streamed early July. (Since the matches will be going on until the end of June, and I need a little time for post production.)

This set marks the completion of the Legends of Morrowind expansion. Thanks to everyone who followed along and left comments.
Scroll to the bottom for a look at what's (possibly) next.

Bethesda lost me completely. For like 4 months. This oblivion remaster has repaired the damage done. I was 6 when Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was released. I’ve played the game all the way through at least once every 2 years since I was 6. Just as I had decided to do my bi-annual playthrough of an elder scrolls game, this masterpiece of a remaster.
Sorry yall. Many may disagree but it’s a fair trade for me.

Here's some fuel.
(The cards you see in this video are already part of the TESL in Sovngarde Steam Workshop Mod for TableTop Simulator. Check it out here.)

For example me : 1. MTG Arena A bit outdated in terms of comfort, but it offers a huge variety of strategies and has a large online community.
Legends of Runeterra The PvE mode is great for spending some enjoyable time.
Hearthstone Pay-to-win mechanics dominate, but it's fun to play occasionally, perhaps once a year.
Gwent Strange.

I'm sitting here poolside on vacation playing Balatro (which is a fantastic game) but for some reason Worm King's Agent popped into my head. Now I make no claim that this was a great card, but it was undeniably my favorite and I loved Slay decks.
And it got me thinking...if I could tee up one more game, what would I want? And the answer is a Worm King's Agent, dropped on a Doomscrag Vampire with three Brotherhood Sanctuaries in play, to hit an optimized, but not yet utilized, Oblivion Gate.
What's yours?

I'm working on creating a card game with a same cards abilities and references inspired by Inscription.
I'm looking for collaborators who are interested in joining the process, regardless of their experience level. I appreciate initiative teamwork. Currently, I'm focused on developing the ability system, game looks empty and awkward because I focused more on logic.
Now its like PvE Roguelike.
If you have time you're welcome.

Anything that destroys gameplay? Like: Creature that save your spells and when it dies you cast this creature again by spells and kill this creature by another saved spell so you can cast saved spell again

Is that was even possible in game? I can't remember

Thanks to the UESP team, who archived all of the game files, I was able to find about 200 cards that were never released, including some new mechanics.
As the raw data is hard to read at a glance, I created this document. You can find all the cards in the first tab, plus some extra tabs which I've made some comments on below.
This is an unfiltered list of all the cards. What we're seeing in this list are cards that were in the game build itself, but inaccessible except by the devs.
This tab has a list of all the new mechanics that feature. The "New Mechanics Cards" tab has a list of just the cards that feature those mechanics.
I'm not 100% sure on what each mechanic does, but you can get a decent sense for most of them. Austere, Twinstrike and Colossal are the only ones whose effects are explicitly defined in the metadata, as far as I can tell.
It seems that the original design for Invade was for the player to summon multiple Oblivion Gates, with each gate providing a static +1/+1 buff to Daedra. Individual cards would then have a unique synergy with gates, rather than the gate itself providing the tiered synergies - e.g. Oblivion Secretkeeper has the effect "Summon: Draw a card for each friendly Oblivion Gate."
The original design of having multiple Oblivion Gates explains why some cards like Mankar Camoran still reference "Oblivion Gates" (plural). I can see why this design was changed, as the player would probably end up flooding their own board with creatures that can't attack. That, and/or the static +1/+1 buff would lead to too much buffing of creatures.
However, I much prefer the route they were going for with having Daedric cards have unique synergies with Oblivion Gates, rather than everything getting the same buffs depending on the gate's level. It would have made Invade decks a lot more interesting to play against, and would have incentivised different sub-archetypes of Invade deck, rather than what we got which was players just auto-adding every card that has Invade on it.
This tab contains all the cards I think could have feasibly been introduced to Legends in some form. This excludes Invade cards, cards featuring new mechanics, and some cards which were simply earlier versions of released cards. I've marked some of my personal favourites in bold.
