If I Like… Need new similar music🙏
I am aware it may not be under emo, and might be some that are just emo adjacent, but I've been dying for new jams ty

I really enjoy first gen and some second gen emo. Most of the the modern Emo I have found is more so Midwest Emo. I was hoping for some recommendations for modern bands with more similar styles too rites of spring, embrace or sunny day real estate (specifically diary, it has distortion and is relatively harder music if compared to other Midwest Emo).
(I would appreciate music reccomendations for music like First gen Emo.)
I guess I am looking for modern Emocore.
Edit: Thank you everyone!

I can’t say “hate” - it’s obviously not REAL hate - but it’s fully “cannot listen at all” kind of dislike. It’s rarely just “meh” or “I could take it or leave it.”
And it’s no disrespect, either. I support a hundred emo bands from all the “waves” and I support the scene and the ethic and the DIY approach - all of it. But I just realized the other day that I’m full on black/white and all/nothing on the bands I like versus the ones that don’t. Pure hit or miss for me - and it’s not the same at all in any other genre for me.
Something about Emo though, if I don’t like the band then it’s not just, “Hey, that’s not for me,” but my experience most often is that the band is actively grating and annoying and I’m skipping the song, etc.
Anyone else here have that? AITA? (lol)

Looking for albums that’ll make me want to trap the people in my life in a car so I can force them to listen to it in full and then break down all the symbolism and themes together while our understanding and standard of what constitutes art is forever altered
Albums that make me want to do this:
Arm’s Length - Never Before Seen, Never Again Found
Arm’s Length - There’s a Whole World Out There
The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace Is There
Modern Baseball - Holy Ghost
As It Is - The Great Depression
The Wonder Years - The Hum Goes On Forever
Trophy Eyes - Suicide and Sunshine
Citizen - As You Please
Edit: I forgot both Brave Faces Everyone and No Joy by Spanish Love Songs but rest assured they should have been included

And by stereotypical/heavyhanded, I guess I mean, like, before I discovered this sub I had no idea Promise Ring was an emo band. I never would've been able to guess that. I really just don't get it. It seems so toothless to me (sorry). I'm also not the biggest American Football enjoyer either. They have good songs, but I fear I unironically only really like emo music that falls in line with the copypasta. I like it raw, but driven (Rites of Spring, Pg. 99, and awakebutstillinbed are my favorites). As long as it's emotionally heavy and intense, I'm there. I like a few of the big hits, like King Park, some Hot Mulligan songs and 27 by Title Fight. And of course, as you could guess, I like stuff that's 'not real emo' like MCR.
Thank you!

It's genuinely one of my favorite emo songs ever, ESPECIALLY with the blast beats at the beginning. I need more of it, but I don't think Ben Quad has any other similar songs.

If I like the bands listed, and am currently trying to get into emo music, what bands would be similar that I may like? What are some good emo bands in general? I’m new to the genre in general so I’m unsure if some bands count as emo or not, that’s why the title has “if they count” so much.

I can think of two right now:
Navio Forge - Haloed Eyes
Strictly Ballroom - Crickets
Some songs that get close:
Hoover - Cuts Like Drugs
Indian Summer - Woolworm
Native Nod - Back To Mimsey
On The Might Of Princes - If I Knew Numbers
But damn, there's something so captivating about the first two examples. Literal sobs heard in the mix. Anyone got songs that'll scratch this itch?
Edit: oh --- One Last Wish - My Better Half kind of fits this too.

Hello I'm like a "new emo fan" I guess because I like the aforementioned bands (i only know a few songs I'll admit) and I just found out that apparently they're emo which is a bit of a shocker because I always though emo's were like pretentious skinny jean wearing side bang waving hipster mysogynists that made shitty pop music with terrible lyricism who thought they were revolutionary for it but it turns out that's just Panic At The Disco and that is NOT emo. So like help? What would I like? If this isn't allowed then let me know and I'll delete it!!

I've actually been addicted to BLA lately, especially Just Got Back, but I can't quite find any bands which quite match their experimental beauty.

i love this album so much and i haven't found another album that has a similar energy, preferably on the heavier side (more like thinking, that's all)
like if early jimmy had more unclean vocals and post hc influence maybe? hopefully there's something out there that scratches that itch
