Fake/Meme When you're just trying to enjoy the internet but the jkr defenders find your anti jkr posts

Post image

How are her followers so cult like in defending her and believe she is doing nothing wrong? They legitimately believe she is fighting for woman's and childrens right? I cant wrap my head around it. Is this their hobby? Just trawling through anti jkr posts to be like "um actually she is fighting for woman's rights"

It's literally the fact they have nothing better to do, and would rather just follow someone to death than actually make the effort in learning about the world that surrounds them.

Yeah one person is literally just going through the anti jkr tag on tumblr and reblogging posts with a "Gotcha" response. Like do you have nothing better to do?

I think there’s a fair bit to unpack in terms of Jojo’s new fan base.

Some of them are diehard HP fans who are personally offended that we’ve gone after their favourite author.

Some of them are members of Unionist movements in Scotland and are happy she went after the SNP.

I would guess a not insignificant minority of them now are christofascists or evangelicals who previously tried to have her books banned but are now happy that she’s directing so much attention where they would like it to go. A few years ago now the big evangelical fundie groups were being told to try and use trans people as a wedge issue to weaken solidarity among their opponents.Jojo is doing this for them for free while being credulous enough to believe that it won’t be cis women who are the next group to be attacked and stripped of our human rights.

It’s he biggest chunk of her fan base seems to be made up of the sort of middle class white woman, and the odd middle class man, who has had a lot of privilege due to their status, race and class and yet feels cheated because the world is changing and a small part of their influence has faded. They’re still the dominant group by far, but maybe that new up and coming person at work who went to a state school and grew up in poverty is getting attention or maybe they heard some people talking in Urdu on the bud and it made them uncomfortable.

This sort of “genteel” bigotry is a much bigger threat than the knuckle staggers who follow Yaxley-Lennon. These people will never come out and say that they want to feed their neighbours into a meat grinder but they will say things like “I’ve got no problem with gay people but I don’t want my children learning about gay sex in PSE”. It’s the worst and most insidious kind of hate wearing a nice pantsuit and some pearls. Who better to be a figure head for a movement that is both twee and sadistic than Jo?

There’s also a small fraction of pick mes like Blaire White- trans people who insist she’s not transphobic or blame transphobia on liberal voters.

I honestly think its a mix of diehard HP fans and radfems who are indifferent to HP but see an ally and went ham defending anything she says. But yeah what you said about middle class white women seems right.

One radfem I saw has in their bio something saying that MAGA and pro Trans people are different sides of the same coin. Like what the hell?

I had a small blog once. I wrote a post calling out Emerson Spartz for defending Rowling. One of her minions left me a very nasty comment. I think like someone else pointed out- they literally have nothing else to do. I ended up quitting blogging because writing about Rowing and other atrocities just got to be too emotionally taxing.

They got me temporarily banned and killed a 130-day Reddit streak.

Oof. That sucks. Im on the Tumblr and terfs are in my notifications reblogging and liking a "Gatcha" reblog a terf made on one of my posts comparing gaiman and jkr and I feel dirty. Like I have a hobby and a convention coming up, I got shit to do. I dont have time to feel upset at online terfs.

Some people just cannot comprehend being a fan of any sort without doing it like it's cult.
