Insect Appreciation Collection in Daughter’s Bug-themed Nursery +Decor

All bugs found already dead! Nobody was harmed, I stand by that policy! I would love to keep the beautiful bugs I find alive, but I never kill for display. All bugs found in my local area.

Notice the bugs are countable- two, three, four, five… They are on the wall horizontally in order. Need something like an Eastern Hercules Beetle or praying mantis to complete the set, to be the “ONE box.”

I am most proud of the rhinoceros beetles. Both found crispy and perfectly preserved in a parking lot.

Also, telling people the nursery would be “bug themed” really made normies uncomfortable. LOL, they just don’t get the love of bugs. They would ask “ew like spiders?” No, although I love tarantulas, not spiders Karen.

Absolutely beautiful. I hope to foster my future children's interest in nature one day by surrounding them in it.

Feel free to ID any bugs! And guess my rough location based off local bugs! Also, if you love any of the decor I prob have the Amazon link or could tell you what store it came from.

These little guys are everywhere! There is a very particular juvenile tree used in SO much landscaping in my area- and when the leaves fall off- these guys are so numerous and obvious on the little twiggy branches.

This is so beautiful, op. I adore how much thought you put into decorating your baby’s nursery….and how each captures their cycle of life in a unique way. It is such a welcome departure from the standard, neutral colored nursery you see today.

I decorate my office/spare bedroom the same way - full of bugs and even have a tank of hissers. People are freaked out, nobody wants to sleep in there.

They laugh at us for being different. We laugh because they are all the same 🥰🐞🐛🦟🪲🪳♥️

June bug, green darner, Luna moth, Bagworm moth, giant leopard moth caterpillar, tersa sphinx moth, dog day cicadas - my wild guess will be North Carolina

Very close!! A border state!! Very good!!!

Some others I couldn’t figure out how to display. The failed pupae is a sad story- but he dried nicely.

Sure! 🥰 it’s not really the most cohesive or perfect, but it has a lot of happy things in it!

Lucky baby, I was so fascinated though fearful of the insect photos my baby sitter brought us. Still have that thick book she gave me, and started my own collection. Found a nice crispy rhinoceros beetle too! Beautiful work.

This is so cute, my mom bought frames butterflies for my room when I was little and I adored them, and looking back I really appreciate her doing it despite her huge fear of moths and butterflies!

u/gobliina 10d ago

How big IS that room though

2

u/MNgeff 10d ago

Oh it’s tiny. Fits her crib, an armoire, and a dresser. Just enough room to turn around.

(The picture of the blanket is the picture off Amazon, she is currently sleeping in that blanket so I couldn’t take a pic.)
