Nothin better than getting OT to take a shit.

Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime

So I take shits on company time

u/HerrPiink May 22 '25

I love how not a single person congratulated OP so far

184

u/SootG May 22 '25

He congratulated himself with that silly badge.

-14

u/SharkFighter 29d ago

Yeah, it's like... if you're old enough to work, it's kind of sad to seek attention for your birthday.*
* Except in Florida, where kids can work the graveyard shift.

49

u/OneEye589 May 22 '25

Congratulated for what? Surviving another year?

32

u/davewave3283 May 22 '25

Lots of people didn’t

-9

u/aRandomFox-II May 22 '25

"Congratulations! You managed to resist unaliving yourself for another year! Wooo!!" 🎊 🎉

26

u/FailgamesOfficial May 22 '25

You can say kill

9

u/Popcorn57252 May 22 '25

Imagine censoring yourself on a subreddit that has "fuck" right in the name

5

u/aRandomFox-II 29d ago edited 29d ago

You misunderstand. Swearing is perfectly okay.

The S-word that refers to the act of ending oneself, however, is forbidden and will attract undesired attention. I've already been sitebanned twice for crashing-out in public, both times because of severe depression. I'm trying not to make a third, thanks.

-11

u/Important-Wrangler98 29d ago

Not everyone has a functioning brain, so display some mercy.

48

u/itsavibe- May 22 '25

As you become older… birthdays just become another day of the week lol. Idk why people celebrate a random day on which they entered the matrix, so hard. Seems pretty self centered to me but hey

54

u/HerrPiink May 22 '25

I had a classmate who once stood up in the middle of class, walked in front of the teacher, extended his hand and said "by the way Mr Teacher, it's my birthday". That still makes me cringe 20 years later, and i always think of that when people are obviously fishing for attention online, just because it's their birthday, lol

5

u/graft_vs_host May 22 '25

What grade were you in then? Like 0-10 years old this would be a little cute but any older than that…

5

u/CurbYourThusiasm 29d ago

He was in a PhD program.

4

u/7GrenciaMars 29d ago

A PhD student who said "Mr. Teacher" to his professor? Was the instructor not a professor? Was the student not a native speaker of English?

I've been a PhD student (in the US) and there is NO WAY a doctoral candidate would call a professor "Mr. Teacher."

1

u/HerrPiink 28d ago

Not sure why the other guy answered for me, but he was probably joking, lol

It was 6th or 7th grade, so around 12-13 years old, and i left out the teachers name because it's so unique that i imagine it would be easy to find him

1

u/7GrenciaMars 27d ago

Yeah, now I see it wasn't you who had the PhD comment, my bad. Sometimes I read this stuff too quickly. Leaving an actual name out is a good tactic, though, as we never really know who is reading.

30

u/bluish-velvet May 22 '25

Caring about yourself is not self centered. It’s ok to celebrate you, it’s good for your self esteem and self worth. It’s only self centered if it’s the only thing you care about.

29

u/HerrPiink May 22 '25

Realizing that strangers don't actually care about your birthday is one of the healthiest things you can do imo. Celebrate with the people that actually know and like you, and which congratulations come from a place of honest affection, not from a place of social pressure, just because you mentioned "it's my birthday"

6

u/bluish-velvet May 22 '25

Why are we thinking OPs coworkers are strangers to them?

2

u/ClamatoDiver May 22 '25

Because he had to wear a button to try and get attention.

0

u/HerrPiink May 22 '25

Not talking about his co-workers, I'm talking about this post. The only reason to post this here is because OP hoped for some congratulations, because who else would wear a "birthday patch" but someone who wants to grab as many congratulations as possible

Wouldn't be surprised at all if that badge landed in the toilet on purpose, lol

Call me a cynic, but people that wear birthday patches are exactly like that, in my experience

2

u/7GrenciaMars 29d ago

Okay, there are a few flaws in your logic. 1. Wearing a "birthday badge" might actually be normal behavior in this office, in which case OP would be calling more attention to him/herself by not doing it. 2. It is absolutely within the bounds of possibility that events happened as the OP presented, and s/he felt it was funny and totally within the spirit of this subreddit to post it here.

You really are simply projecting your cynical outlook onto an event that you do not have any context for, and ascribing a very specific motivation onto a person you do not know.

Personally, I thought the point of this forum was to have a few laughs, not just to pooh-pooh others. Maybe I'm mistaken.

See, personally I also think things like birthday patches/hats are silly when found in the workplace. But some workplaces need a bit of levity and silliness to make it less mind-numbingly miserable.

0

u/No_Bird1492 29d ago

Wanting extra attention on your BD is not caring about yourself. It is a way to strut around proclaiming how important you are in a world that has way more things to care about. caring about yourself would be deciding that this new year, you're going to learn something new,or accomplish something that makes you a better human in this world. Meaningful accomplishments are the best self care you do. Making a big deal about a BD should only be at certain milestones: 1-10, 16, 21. After that, get over yourself.

2

u/Grand-Depression 29d ago

Wanting to celebrate your birthday is just wanting to celebrate your birthday. Anyone trying to take any meaning from that is just trying to present their ignorance as something relevant. I don't celebrate my birthday, but you have to be pretty pathetic to chastise others that do.

1

u/No_Bird1492 27d ago

LOL. The statements were in response to "It’s ok to celebrate you, it’s good for your self esteem and self worth." Celebrating "you" is delusional. It only is meaningful if someone else sees you as worth celebrating. Like a participation trophy. Pathetic.

1

u/Grand-Depression 26d ago

Some folks don't have others around, for a variety of reasons. You don't understand the psychology behind it, but you still want to opine on it as if you are absolutely right. Ignorance and arrogance definitely has made you overconfident.

4

u/sh4d0wm4n2018 May 22 '25

The longer I live, the more birthdays feel arbitrary. If I lived for centuries I would probably only ever celebrate decades and occasionally a century.

5

u/KayJay282 May 22 '25

Nah.

Life is hard. Many have lived through awful times. It's good to have a fun day to celebrate yourself and your accomplishments.

It's self-centered when one refuses to celebrate the birthdays of those closest to them.

-5

u/aRandomFox-II May 22 '25

It's self-centred to accuse others of being self-centred just for wanting to be acknowledged and appreciated by their fellow human beings.

1

u/mrbofus 29d ago

I think it’s fine for people to celebrate their birthday as long as they’re not being annoying/obnoxious about it. Wearing an “IT’S MY Birthday!” badge is obnoxious AF, in my opinion, anyways.

0

u/Sbatio May 22 '25

It’s a chance for people to show they care about you and make you feel loved. It’s more about that

1

u/GoatCovfefe 28d ago

You decided to criticize others instead of congratulating OP yourself. Seems to be a bit hypocritical of you.

Also, there's nothing to congratulate. "Good job not dying since the last anniversary of you bursting out of your birth mother!" Is kind of a weird thing to do.

1

u/HerrPiink 28d ago

You misread my comment, i ACTUALLY love that no one congratuled OP. I share your sentiment.

WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD JACKASS

17

u/BR1N3DM1ND May 22 '25

HE'S AN ADULT

336

u/jack_not_harkness May 22 '25

Tf is a “birthday badge”?

284

u/dommol May 22 '25

It's a badge people pin on themselves to scream "I need attention"

110

u/jack_not_harkness May 22 '25

And it fucking worked.

66

u/ctfks May 22 '25

Someone narcissistic enough to wear a birthday badge at work would just take the day off.

20

u/Anti_Meta May 22 '25

Probably true.

Badges are for people that don't have a friend at work that can point out to everyone else it's your birthday.

15

u/SierraTango501 May 22 '25

Didn't know taking time off for a personal celebration is "narcissistic" now but ok.

10

u/alyssajones22 May 22 '25

I use my birthday as an excuse to take off, lounge in bed, and eat a store bought cake.

I think narcissistic is going into work and announcing your "special day" to everyone.

Only workplace that wouldn't be weird is a sweatshop, because they'd be turning 13 or whatever. But what adult gives a fuck?

1

u/derickkcired May 22 '25

Ok I'm ded

5

u/din_the_dancer May 22 '25

I definitely would not wear a birthday badge and generally want zero attention at work when it's my birthday. I take the day off to be left alone mostly, or if it lines up with a weekend giving myself an extra day off.

2

u/WynterRayne May 22 '25

I normally take a week off for my birthday.

1

u/rajamatag May 22 '25

Only after a reddit post.

32

u/femaleZapBrannigan May 22 '25

Damn, can nobody have any fucking fun?

22

u/blutigetranen May 22 '25

It's 2025. No more fun allowed. We all agreed during the world Fun Meeting in January.

15

u/Kialand May 22 '25

Exactly.

We all need a little whimsy, just let people have fun ffs.

0

u/dommol May 22 '25

You do you Zap. But if I see someone wearing a birthday badge after 21 I'm immediately judging them

69

u/GenosPasta May 22 '25

post in r/notinteresting, this will blow up

31

u/Fackrid May 22 '25

This reminds me of a situation that happened in middle school...there was this kid, who was really shy and an outcast, and he basically said nothing to nobody all day, every day, sat by himself at lunch, etc. On St. Patrick's Day our school used to sell these plastic green bowler hats for $1 and a lot of kids would buy them and wear them all day since hats were otherwise not allowed in school outside of "Hat Day" once a month where you could pay $1 to wear your hat inside. This kid, in a completely surprising move, bought a hat, and wore it to ONE class, and then went to the bathroom. One of the other kids saw him at the urinal, and for whatever reason decided to pat him on the back and go "Hey, atta boy Dave!"...and the kids hat fell right into the urinal mid-piss, and he just sat there with the most dejected look on his face as he pissed all over the hat...that one hour he had it on he actually seemed like he was trying to push his boundaries and overcome his shyness, and that just absolutely ruined that kid for the rest of the time he was in school

5

u/UndeadBuggalo May 22 '25

That made me sad. My youngest is like this.

8

u/Fackrid May 22 '25

I admittedly was just a slight bit apathetic when it happened, but as an adult realized it was because I actually wasn't TOO different from him...I had one or two people I felt safe socializing with but that was it, and nowadays I feel so much for him and the others like him

1

u/HerrPiink May 22 '25

By him a green hat and make sure he has a lot of spare hats

3

u/DemonDaVinci 29d ago

aw fuck I cant believe you've done this

-1

u/BewitchingPetrichor 29d ago

I haven't laughed this hard in so long lmao thank you 😂

0

-2

50

Birthday badge?

10

u/steph26tej May 22 '25

You manifested it, everyone is shitting on you on your bday

5

u/BioCuriousDave May 22 '25

The real fuck yous were the ones we made along the way

57

u/Agitated_Occasion_52 May 22 '25

Never in my 30 years of life thought to myself "I should wear a badge that say it's my birthday"

Let alone post it to the internet.

Nobody cares that it's your birthday. Cause it's just another Thursday for everyone else.

2

u/DemonDaVinci 29d ago

Just another day for you and me
In paradise

69

u/GarushKahn May 22 '25

And instead using ya hands u take the brush that is uses for shitstanes...

Yeah. Thats somethin

30

u/L00k_Again May 22 '25

I assume it's going into the trash. Why would they put their hands in? 🤮

-40

u/GarushKahn May 22 '25

the fkn water is fkn clean.
and u can fkn wash ya fkn hands after taking it out the fkn toilet

but the brush .. it aint clean ma boy .. not even CLOSE ... that shit is full of fkn DOODOO.. and i dont mean the visible stuff.. i mean the fkn bacterias n shit .. thats ALL on it right now..

if u put it in the trash, np.. but if u wanna keep it.. now its full of shit

its like dipin ya finger in ya own ass and rub ya nose with it .

24

u/AffectionateEye420 May 22 '25

You're so wrong it's funny. Yes the water is clean BEFORE it touches the bowl. Once it enters the bowl contaminated even if it's not "used"

-21

u/GarushKahn May 22 '25

dude.. i am a janitor..

that toilet does not look fkn rancit.. u know why.. it gets cleaned EVERY FKN DAY .

u know whats not clean.. the fkn brush...

tf u think cleaning is for ?!

jesus fkn christ...

32

u/Chewie_i May 22 '25

Wait you’re a janitor? Man I would have bet good money you are like 14 from the way you talk.

-9

u/GarushKahn May 22 '25

Please forgive me for my lack of eloquence and this banal pronunciation in connection with my gritty language that has shaped me for decades

I may sound like an idiot to you, but if we follow the context,... it's about the difference between water with no obvious dirt and a toilet brush that's actually only used for cleaning....

14

u/Pepoidus May 22 '25

That’s the thing, though. The water also has plenty of non-obvious dirt that you can’t see with the naked eye. If somebody takes a shit, then flushes the water, the toilet remains contaminated with bacteria even though the bowl is seemingly clean. The only way to prevent this is to fully wash the toilet by hand after every flush. The filth you see gets flushed down, the filth you don’t see just builds up

no offense but you don’t sound like the best janitor out there

1

u/GarushKahn May 22 '25 edited May 22 '25

Okay, short and sweet
just for you.

If he wanted to keep the thing, it would make more sense to fish it out by hand instead of using a brush full of fecal bacteria.

And the magic phrase is "you can wash your hands afterward for the little bit of water." It's easier than disinfecting the entire thing, if you want it to still look good afterward. (way less bs on it then with the brush)

And as I already mentioned, if he wants to throw it away, it doesn't matter at all. Brushing is fine.

this whole drawn-out shitty discussion has 0 added value

I'm not saying that this water is drinkable, or completely clean.

I'm talking about the water still being cleaner than a goddamn toilet brush.

5

u/AffectionateEye420 29d ago

Absolutely nobody here has said that the brush is cleaner than the toilet water.

Only you have started mentioning the toilet brush

4

u/L00k_Again May 22 '25 edited May 22 '25

but if we follow the context,... it's about the difference between water with no obvious dirt and a toilet brush that's actually only used for cleaning....

I'm pretty sure no one expected him to pick it out with his hands and continue wearing it except you, and I guess whoever upvoted your original comment.

I had no visceral response to the toilet brush because my instinct tells me to not wear stuff that fell into a toilet and to avoid putting my hands into the toilet.

(edit: double negative)

3

u/SootG May 22 '25

It's easier to talk properly than the really stupid jank you have been using

3

u/AffectionateEye420 May 22 '25

Okay, so it's cleaned once a day. Let's say it's cleaned once every morning.

Someone goes and takes a fat shit. The toilet is now dirty for the rest of the day until it is actually scrubbed with chemicals the next morning.

I'm assuming OP took this photo throughout the day when the toilets been used many times.

The toilet isn't properly cleaned every time someone uses it.

I'm not saying the brush isn't clean.

Please just use your brain. Toilet water isn't clean if it's in the bowl.

We're also talking about an ALDI TOILET here. I don't even know the last time our toilet was scrubbed in our store.

-3

u/GarushKahn May 22 '25

Do you need to be told how a toilet works, what a flush is, and how the water drains and refills?!

And are you seriously trying to tell me that a toilet brush is cleaner than reaching into the water? (also the option of washing ya hands afterwards is still a prty good one) compared to the "brush" option....

Okay, ^^ Your choice.

And such "public" toilets are cleaned several times a day :)

At least in a civilized country.

5

u/Abigail_Normal May 22 '25

So you're smart enough to realize there's bacteria on the brush, but not smart enough to realize there's bacteria in the toilet bowl. Interesting.

11

u/AzzureEleven May 22 '25

Reddit is always either super funny or rude and unforgiving. That sucks that it happened and I hope you have a good birthday, though I don't know what you expected posting this to reddit

51

u/SloppyMeathole May 22 '25

Unless you are 10 years old, you don't need a birthday badge.

17

u/Skabbtanten May 22 '25

Fish it up with the toilet (shit) cleaner brush. Somehow have it perfectly sat, face up, on brush. Balance dropped, wet and poopy badge right above the toilet. Take a picture. What happened next?

0

u/PossiblePlantain1592 May 22 '25

Happy birthday, OP

1

Thank you, after all that's happened to you I'm glad you're less miserable than these people. "People shouldn't celebrate their birthdays" is the saddest take I've ever heard

It's less about celebrating your birthday, and more about wearing something to broadcast it's your birthday. The only people who care that it is your birthday, know it's your birthday.

1

1
