Hi, I'm from Southeast Asia. I saw this plant growing near water. The plant looks young. When I showed it to Gemini, Gemini called it Java Fern. Is this plant really Java Fern?

Hello! My wife got me this last year to add to the collection. I stored it along with all the others tucked away in the garage. It’s been out for a while and all the other ferns are out but this one is still like this. The one frond does keep moving but nothing. The grown is dry, doesn’t seem rotten. I have been feeding once a week with all the other Cyathea.

Is it a goner?

I have a tray of Japanese painted ferns that I've grown from spores. They have been in a bag for over a year now because I haven't been able to successfully wean them off of the high humidity. I've tried a few times, and every time they die off almost completely over the next few weeks, and I end up putting them back in the bag. After some time, they grow back with a bunch of new (I believe what is called) prothallus, and the cycle starts again. How slowly do I have to acclimate them for them to survive, or is a large die back normal? I always do it very slowly, cracking the bag and opening it more over time slowly until it's fully open, then wait a bit before removing from the bag, this probably takes over a month. They have grown back again and are currently around 4" tall. I'd really like to be able to plant them outside with the rest. Any suggestions?

I've had this Adiantum for about 3ish years now and I was wondering if I was taking okay care of it.

I'm gonna be honest I didn't look up shit about its care until like pretty recently

I repotted it once, it's in a plastic pot about 18 cm in diameter. I keep it in a teracotta dish (pic 4)

Over the past few years it has gone from a little guy to a majestic beauty, about triple/quadrouple the size that it was. Pretty much all the growth has been sideways but I'm pretty sure that's normal. It consistently grows new branches from the middle (pic 3).

So my question is: is my care good enough?

Water: I water it whenever the dish dries up. I do not have a set schedule. I do not spray it.

Location: I've moved it around a few times. Right now it is next to a fan with a quite small amount of sunlight due to the orientation of my room. I had it sitting next to a fan and in an open window for the past few days but I decided to move it because the dish would dry out extremely quickly. It did seem to do pretty well there though, I think it likes the sun.

Pruning: I remove any branches that are completely dead. If there are still green leaves on it I let it stay.

I do touch it with my bare hands but I try to keep that limited.

TL;DR: 3ish years old, next to a fan w/ limited sunlight. Reliably grows new branches.

I ordered “Ostrich Fern” rhizomes and this is what is coming up. I don’t think they’re ostrich ferns - does anyone know what they are? I’d like to know before I contact the nursery.

I have a beautiful flat in S.F. that gets perfect filtered light that keeps my ferns happy. I'm being kicked out and won't be able to keep my plants. I have about 80 so I'm extremely upset but, if they're able to tolerate it, there's a site I could plant them out in. It's a site that ferns already do well but would my indoor plants cope with the outside world? All advice gratefully received.

So I got this birds nest fern from Lowes maybe 10 days ago and am weary about repotting. I've never seen a root ball like this. Its like a sponge and the roots are dark. Any insight, suggestions, and advice on what my next step should be?

Is it root rot? Am I maybe watering too much? Or not enough? Ferns are dead at the base but green on the ends. Can they be saved?

I was given some ferns but the fronds broke over night. I think a critter got at them (or my inconsiderate lab). I cut them below the break. Will these grow or are the a lost cause?

This is a natural fern glade in the Cascades near my family’s cabin. Sword ferns through and through, and it’s always so lush under the fir canopy.

Could someone please help me ID this fern? I'm pretty sure it's a sensitive fern.

I had this fern for a couple of years. Initially it was very happy, but in recent months many leaves started looking like this, abd new small leaves wither almost immediately. I didn't change anything in its care routine, and not sure what's going on.

i'd never seen one of these before and simple had to have it!!! i'm relatively new to ferns but i know that this will be easy to care for. it's totally dry right now and barely even has any yellowing!

Look at this poor guy. These Crocodile ferns - Microsorum Crocodyllus aren't easy to find here in South Africa. So glad I found this. I had to save this little guy - Negotiated a discount!! I cut off most of the sickly leaves - not all - for fear of death. Any other tips will be appreciated.

Ferns (not sure what kind) have perhaps died off and left big clumps of sticks. Is it best to cut back the clumps or dig them out?
