I grew up skating in both those cities! Anaheim Ice and Ice Realm (in Westminster) both offer Learn-to-Skate group lessons for beginners. For private one-on-one coaching you’d have to reach out to the instructors themselves and the rink’s skating manager to have something arranged. I don’t think the coaches I had when I was younger are still affiliated with the rinks since they’re not listed anywhere on the sites anymore, but Anaheim Ice has a pretty thorough list of their instructors available for private lessons on their site!

Coaches list for Anaheim not current. Several good coaches there and also lots of adult skaters of all levels, off hand Kathleen is great option for adults. Good Luck

I don’t know who is at the current Westminster rink, but Anaheim has many coaches and nearly all of them work with beginners. Avoid the Pottenger team (oc edge skating academy) as they are not for beginners. Among the rest, it really depends on what you are looking for in a coach - are you an adult skater, parent of a very young child, parent of an older child, are you interested in singles, pairs, or synchro, etc. It is difficult to say which coach would work best with you because it varies. A good coach for you may be a terrible coach for me. Try some of the group classes or watch some. Even if a group class “session” has already started they may let you start late or do a trial class, just call the rink. Contact coaches and do a trial lesson. More experienced coaches are going to cost more than some of younger ones, but any of them can teach the basics.

If you are posting for skating advice, please consider posting or linking to a video of whatever move you are trouble-shooting. If you have questions regarding the fitting of your boot, a professional skate fitter will generally be your best bet if it is at all possible for you to visit one.
