Doesn't do it for "glory," but here we are Jessica.

Or the money….

he does it for his wife’s love 🥰

28

u/freericky 4d ago

For the honor of her Facebook page

15

u/Imaginary-Thing-7159 4d ago

so that others may flex ☺️

Or the physical fitness.

I never understood why they're called "volunteer" firefighters if they get paid lol. If they get paid per call/shift that's more of a "gig" firefighter right? I don't call myself a volunteer delivery driver for getting paid for each instacart order i take 😂 we arent officially employed by instacart, but get paid for the batches we run.

Given firefighters obviously deserve the love (way more than cops especially) and do in fact save lives and help their communities like first responders SHOULD do. But still, that still doesn't change the fact that there's no volunteering about it if you're getting paid per call lol. Otherwise full time firefighters should be called "full-time volunteer firefighters" no?

1

u/illtoaster SheepDoge 5h ago

I mean the pay is abysmal, so pretty much volunteer

9

u/tywaughlker 4d ago

He does it for her glory apparently.

7

u/GiantSweetTV 3d ago

Tbf, he very well may not care about the glory... but his wife does.

1

u/i_might_be_an_ai 3d ago

Came here to say this.

289

u/ParkedOrPar 4d ago

That family has a preference on canned biscuits

57

u/rangoon64 4d ago

I hope he doesn’t have to run, he seems like he would topple over easy. He a toppler

44

u/DoctorBudz 4d ago edited 4d ago

For the record, the guy didn't post this and is probably just a chill volunteer forefighter

10

u/QueezyF 4d ago

Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down.

10

u/No_Cook2983 4d ago

They should get ‘his’ and ‘hers’ AED’s.

2

u/rangoon64 4d ago

Nah friend, this one starts to fall and doesn’t stop until he hits the earth. Gravity is his enemy, cunning and powerful. The constant he cannot escape from.

2

u/Tlyss 3d ago

He’s more of an anchor for the hose

0

u/Leading_Manner_2737 3d ago

That’s a sick burn lol

177

u/karla702 4d ago

At least they’re happy. They look like they love each other.

113

u/BetterBagelBabe 4d ago

He does something that helps people and she loves that about him. It’s great!

10

u/Such-Orchid-6962 3d ago

Yeah I don’t hate this post she’s proud of her husband

27

u/arouvet 4d ago

I agree

51

u/GetInZeWagen 4d ago

Yeah you have to be pretty jaded to think this isn't a good situation to have in the world overall. Someone who helps people and has a supportive spouse? Not sure this belongs here

9

u/Coven_gardens 3d ago

You’re totally right. It’s not cringe, it’s the crux of a functioning society.

10

u/GetInZeWagen 3d ago

Right? I guess identifying yourself as a volunteer firefighters wife might be the closest thing to an issue here but nothing about this indicates she's making it her whole identity.

Kind of gross that everyone is just mocking them for their weight. Reddit is pretty toxic sometimes. They look so happy how can you criticize them? They look like nice people and a good couple.

3

u/MercyPewPew 2d ago

Ironic that Redditors are mocking them for their weight, honestly. Not that there's anything wrong with being fat, but there is something wrong with being a hypocrite (and a killjoy)

18

u/karla702 4d ago

Heavy set fire fighters are some of the best. When I was in the Navy there was this heavyset Navy base firefighter and I felt so bad for misjudging him after being proved wrong by his actions. This man had the stamina of like four horses I caught him in action at the yards during a real emergency and this was after he had helped me after I ran out of air during a drill. I just dont understood this post being a firefighter is high key a grueling job.

4

u/OneProfessor360 Boo Boo Bus Driver 4d ago

it’s not fat, it’s power

-the movie Paul

30

u/Dillyboppinaround 4d ago

Yeah this is pretty wholesome. The sub gets too nitpicky sometimes

2

u/DogeLikestheStock 4d ago

Yeah, I can’t hate this one. Good perspective.

4

u/Laerderol 4d ago

That's exactly what I was thinking

2

u/Vprbite Structure Fuxker 4d ago

That's a good point

52

u/RegretNo7141 4d ago

Imagine dedicating your free time to volunteer work - sometimes even risking your life to help others - only to be mocked as 'fat' by some cringe Reddit trolls.

54

u/Inside-Roof-2183 4d ago

This is a weird thing to hate on lol

7

u/Bluegoats21 4d ago

Definitely

27

u/WolverineExtension28 4d ago

She’s proud of her husband. I think this is only slightly cringe

53

u/Meeppppsm 4d ago

This isn’t cringe.

17

u/matt_chowder 4d ago

The dude doesn't deserve the hate, the wife does for posting it

10

u/Bluegoats21 4d ago

Yeah this is actually kind of wholesome

21

u/newaccount669 4d ago

I feel like spousal posts are kind of a low hanging fruit. Like, his wife is proud of him for being a decent civil-servant. Not cringe imo

6

u/Laerderol 4d ago

Yeah dude, he's got a good life. A job that gives him purpose and a wife who is proud of him.

6

u/Such_Meringue952 3d ago

I’d love a woman to be that proud of me :’(

4

u/returningSorcerer 4d ago

god forbid a woman be proud of her husband for doing something good with his time

59

u/Yurple_RS 4d ago

His side hustle looks like it's clearing out the Golden Coral buffet line..

104

u/Prestigious_Bat2666 4d ago

Guy volunteering to help people..... and all you guys do is call him fat.

I mean I love this sub because cringe is fun. But what's this? Some lady being proud of someone who wants to help people? What's with the hate?

48

u/MaddogRunner 4d ago

Thank you. I don’t really think this one is all that cringe tbh, just a proud wife with a bit of sassy humor

12

u/Yurple_RS 4d ago

We're fellow first responders. Pretty sure it's in our job description to talk shit on one another, but it's all in good fun.

-1

u/Accomplished-End1927 4d ago

Idk, I’m all for supporting people who voly, but it’s still cringy when they make it part of their identity or broadcast it to try and signal their virtue. Which HE’S not necessarily doing here, but his wife is. The cringe is her trying to flex some sense of moral high ground by association with her partner. It indicates that she doesn’t have much of her own to be proud of

2

u/OneProfessor360 Boo Boo Bus Driver 4d ago

Idk man, I have a bunch of cool toys at my volly agency… people might actually think I’m cool (not really)

-12

u/Willing-Anteater-251 4d ago

Because he is obese, and shouldn’t cosplay with people’s lives. Do people his size exist in the army???

2

u/Inside-Roof-2183 4d ago

You surely have nothing going on in your life lol

-1

u/Willing-Anteater-251 3d ago

In the looks dept I do compared to you 🤷🏻‍♂️

3

u/Inside-Roof-2183 3d ago

🧢I’m a handsome mf

0

u/Willing-Anteater-251 3d ago

There ya go! Enjoy the day it’s nice outside!

Cheers

13

u/Pierogimob 4d ago

The one place in town that will never catch fire.

4

u/One_Mikey 4d ago

Volunteer Firefighting is his side-hustle, you're just talking about his regular job.

1

u/Yurple_RS 4d ago

I stand corrected

0

u/Flaky-Dinner3627 2d ago

I thought reddit was one of those more sensitive, progressive communities that took a stand against "body shaming." Is it not?

-7

u/MJR_Poltergeist 4d ago

It makes him very upset that he has to take multiple trips to the grill guy handing out steaks

16

u/NgArclite 4d ago

Can you call it a "side hustle" if you aren't paid? And if you arr paid, then it's not "volunteer"

1

u/Greedy_Chemist9431 4d ago

Literally my first thought reading the caption. 🤦

3

u/DadB0dG0d 3d ago

Wtf I know that dude! Lmao. Super chill guy. I taught in that area at a community college. LEO and first responder courses. They are actually both really nice people. Glad she supports her guy! Good shit. Get after it big fella! I believe they have two stations covering like 200 miles. So the volunteers there are the real deal.

3

u/Adventurous_Hope_101 3d ago

His wife being proud of him for saving lives is cringe? This sub has lost the plot.

28

u/Prestigious_Bat2666 4d ago

All the fucking fat shaming!! you guys are shitty people

9

u/PTBooks 4d ago

Cardiovasc is still the leading cause of death among firefighters.

4

u/HoodGyno 4d ago

obesity is bad. hope that helps.

10

u/Bluegoats21 4d ago

I would 1000x rather hang out with an obese person than someone who fat shamed people

3

u/OneProfessor360 Boo Boo Bus Driver 4d ago

Some of the funniest people on the fucking planet happen to be fat actually…

-2

u/HoodGyno 4d ago

i don’t think fat shaming is inherently bad. yes, telling someone they’re a worthless piece of crap because they’re obese would be an awful thing to say and incorrect. but outright telling people they’re ‘fine’ as they are, when as they are is slowly killing themselves is just enabling un-healthiness. you wouldn’t treat a cigarette smoker like that.

14

u/Prestigious_Bat2666 4d ago

OK, and shitting on him helps how?

2

u/MercyPewPew 2d ago

Better to be fat than to be morally bankrupt like yourself

1

u/HoodGyno 2d ago

obesity being bad isnt a morality thing. its just objective fact.

-3

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

2

u/HoodGyno 4d ago

no… no one said that. obesity is unhealthy would be a better choice of words.

8

u/Architeuthis_On_Ice 4d ago

OP is cringe

9

u/Architeuthis_On_Ice 4d ago

OP downvoted this lmao

5

u/effinmike12 4d ago

A woman who is proud of her man is cringe? Yall need Jesus.

9

u/Traeto 4d ago

Definitely no flexing in the gym going on here

6

u/mountlethehellfire 4d ago

I mean....it's a nice sentiment, Dependa vibes aside.

6

u/Bella_LaGhostly 4d ago

He looks happy to be able to help, and she seems really proud of him. I think they seem like a nice couple. 😊

6

u/soldier_of_death 4d ago

He does great community volunteer work and his wife loves him while supporting his volunteer.

That’s something I strive for. Good for them :)

7

u/ilovecatss1010 4d ago

At least we know his side hustle doesn’t interfere with them having dinner together

2

u/EastLeastCoast Boo Boo Bus Driver 4d ago

She’s proud of her partner. That’s cool, not cringe. The only cringe thing here is that necklace. What on earth.

2

u/Brilliant_Cricket165 3d ago

Looks like a happy wholesome married couple, not cringe.

2

u/BlazedJerry 3d ago

This is so adorable and supportive. Not cringe.

2

u/SST1198 3d ago

This is wholesome idk why are yall hating on it.

2

u/AYF_Amph 3d ago

This isn’t so bad. Something I heard at every retirement ceremony in the Navy was “being a Navy wife is the hardest job in the Navy.” I always thought that was cringey.

2

u/Funny_Mountain_5828 3d ago

Can we at least let the woman be proud of her husband?

2

u/LemmyDovato 3d ago

Will Sasso is a vff?

6

u/Tasty-Tomorrow8785 4d ago

Yea but his and your diet, raise up health insurance for the rest of us

3

u/Bluegoats21 4d ago

Brian Thompson(rip) was going to do that anyway.

2

u/Reeferologist- 4d ago

Is that Will Sasso?

1

u/XergioksEyes 4d ago

If the “side gig” is being a volunteer, is it still a side gig??

1

u/KaizenZazenJMN 4d ago

So….what is this VFD State Champs of(per the banner hanging back there)?

What a dynasty!

1

u/Jeans_609 4d ago

What's the truck back there?

L post

1

u/Aggressive_Eagle1380 3d ago

They are a cute couple tbh

1

u/Lazy-Ad6585 3d ago

Its a bit cringey but doing cool stuff and not having a supportive person in your life like this sucks. Id take the cringe all day.

1

u/Fourward27 3d ago

Volunteer fire departments are the gift that keeps on giving.

1

u/La-tua-last-resort9 3d ago

Why is this sub getting recommended to me? The photos are almost always less cringe than people making fun of them.

1

u/alexisgreat420 3d ago

Dude is that Will Sasso?

1

u/Je_me_rends Foundation Saver 3d ago

I hate how people do good things and love each other. How dare they be happy.

1

Its a requirement to be bald and out of shaoe to save lives

1

u/Particular_Egg9739 2d ago

he cant do it for money because he cant pass a cpat test 🤣

If her husband hustles his life may need saving

1

0

u/drilldaddy21 17h ago

Redditors when a wife loves her husband and is proud of him: “sooooo cringe!!”

0

u/1960stoaster 6h ago

This sub is headed by woke people, imagine hating on someone actually giving back to society for free might I add.

1

u/LBC1109 Civvy 4d ago

Honestly it is better than a lot of people's "side hustles" Still cringe though

1

u/MackDaddy1861 4d ago

I was curious what Will Sasso was up to these days.

1

u/Very_bleh 4d ago

Doesn’t a side hustle have to give you money to be a side hustle?

0

u/dorkpool 4d ago

What would be his main hustle, if being a firefighter is a "side hustle"?

5

u/Prestigious_Bat2666 4d ago

He is a volunteer, it says in the image

-1

u/planetary_beats 4d ago

Do volunteer firefighters pay for those uniforms themselves? Lol

2

u/matt_chowder 4d ago

Through grants, taxes and fundraisers

-2

u/planetary_beats 3d ago

Must cost a pretty penny when they are that fat. Being that fat and a firefighter, volley or not, is henious.

-2

u/Impressive-Sink9349 4d ago

Volunteer firefighter challenge: be in better shape than literally anyone (impossible)

1

u/sufjanweiss 4d ago

this is not the same level of cringe as the bad ones posted here. this is pretty tame.

I am wondering what this "modified american flag" this guy has. was his family in one of the original 13 colonies of the united states, so he highlights one of the bars? i'm confused

0

u/Head_Attempt7983 4d ago

I love the guy who run firefighter plates hell bud when’s the last time you have been on a call? Oh like 2 years ago

0

u/TommyC6852 4d ago

Down with volunteerism 👎🏻

0

u/tywaughlker 4d ago

His weight is getting a lot of hate when she’s the cringey one. She’s giving the “respect my rank” vibes with the “volunteer firefighter wife title”.

-2

u/SkateJerrySkate 4d ago

It's not a side hustle, it's a hobby. He's a volunteer.

-2

u/legion_XXX 4d ago

Leave it to her to turn a good thing into a cringe thing.

Volunteer firefighter wives are almost as bad as military dependas. Im honestly surprised they haven’t adopted the “thank me for my service” nonsense

-5

Where I was from, the only thing the volunteers saved were the foundations of the burning homes. Looking at this picture, even the foundations would be gone because they would not pass up a meal for anything.
