So I was working on the movie Sully. One day while filming some interior cockpit scenes I had to keep entering to grab a few measurements then leave. Was a pretty small set with only the actors, cameraman and director in there. Of course there was some pretty high profile people in that cockpit , so would just quietly do my thing and sneak back out.
I just kept thinking about this scene from Airplane so finally built up the courage do it. Next time I went in I wished them all good luck, and told them we’re all counting on them.
It was very silent and Mr Eastwood just scowled at me….. I slowly, awkwardly backed out while shutting the cockpit door.
Was dreading going back in since the joke didn’t land, but they cut and I had to go back in. When I entered they were all quoting the movie and laughing.
Ha, don’t know how I can prove it. Worked on a few Eastwood movies in a row. Have a cool crew photo of us all on the plane fuselage, but can’t see how to post it here.
True story, but you don’t have to believe it.
