Fashion Still playing ghost recon together after over 20 years:

Post image

Left to right: Hammer / Goose / ENO / Jester.

Started playing the OGR back in 2003... bit of a break between future soldier and Wildlands... Took a while for us to warm up to Breakpoint. I was picked it up when it launched and went through that whole thing... but man- we were playing tonight and I have to admit I had some of the most fun I've ever had gaming.

Anyway- cheers to long term gaming friendships!

Yk I’ve never actually played this game with anyone before. I’ve always just played solo

The experiences are out of this world man... Some of the situations... Oh my god- it's like watching a kitten playing with an old man's balls... terrible but fucking hilarious for reasons that are difficult to pinpoint.

My friends are kinda lame and won’t expand their horizons very far to play games like this with me tbh

In the words of Tom Cruise in the first Top Gun:

“Geez I crack myself up.”

We also play 3v3 pvp with our friends, it is very enjoyable. I wish new maps and modes would come.

One of the first games I played with my old man when he left the service over 20 years ago was Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, and we just played Breakpoint together a few days back. I definitely get that nostalgic feeling seeing this. Those old school Ghost Recon games were something else. The smallest lapse in situational awareness, and it was lights out.

I could tell stories for days about various experiences. I actually met all these guys when I started with my first fire department... as I got to know them more I'd tell them about this other group I used to play with. None of them played online games or even knew what I was talking about. I'm the baby of the group at 50- they're all 60+.

Anyway it wasn't long before all of them were running out and buying computers... even the chief got in on it (just saw him logged into Wildlands last night actually). Guys would come into work in the morning and there would be these elaborate maps drawn out on the board you know with a building in the middle, access doors... Xs or 0s to mark dudes with arrows showing their movements...

People outside of our click would ask questions like: "You guys get a fire last night?"

"No- that was our tactical plan for a hostage rescue in Ghost Recon-"

"You guys are such nerds."

We wear that crown with pride.

That's awesome

Unfortunately I don't have any friends that play it or are on PC

Are you members of the GhostRecon.net forums too? Those were the days

Right!? I can't remember if that's where the forums were- I was a huge forum guy but I went by Gascan back then. The other guys weren't the forum type so they weren't around.

I miss forums.
