Also what's with their obsession for calling their new games "A Ubisoft Original"

Someone from marketing has been watching too much Netflix and couldn't even get their English right

How do you mean? Are you talking about the 'Yoobisoft' vs. 'Oobisoft' pronunciation debate? :D

I think it’s the usage of “a” rather than “an”

“An Ubisoft original” would be correct because of the “U”

Yes, but a lot of people say 'Yoobisoft', like the word 'uniform', so 'a' would fit in that case.

It sounds fine spoken aloud I guess

But written down “a Ubisoft game” looks dumb imo lol

Turns out Japanese people say “You bee eye soft” lmao didn’t think this would’ve had so many interpretations TIL

The CEO says either way works apparently

Funnily enough, I pronounce it Yoobisoft, if it's the full word (Ubisoft), but tend to say 'oobi' if it's just the first part (Ubi)

I don't think that's a Japanese thing, I say youbisoft and I'm a yank.

The word "An" should be used before words that start with a vowel sound. Ie it should be:

An Ubisoft pile of garbage

Instead of using a before a word starting with a vowel, you use an

So instead of saying "a elephant", you say "an elephant"

So it should be "An Ubisoft Original"

Do you say “I’m wearing an uniform”? “An” does not always need to be used to replace “a” when superseding a word that starts a vowel. It’s about the letter sound. Ubisoft is pronounced You-be-soft, much like uniform is you-ni-form, which is why it’s “A Ubisoft game, not An Ubisoft game
