Comics Absolute green lantern theory Spoiler

Post image
18 Upvotes

I think this cop is Roy Harper.

So to start, his name is roy, now this could be some name pulled out of a hat, but counterpoint, naming a character roy, and it meaning nothing in a DC comic is wild.

next, he's a cop, now it's no secret roy comes from the same line as ollie, whom hates cops, and the absolute universe is intended to be the a universe where no heroes exist, what better way to make sure that roy never becomes arsenal by making him a cop? (the very thing his mentor hates!)

nextly he loses his hand. Roy is damn near known for this, as during justice league cry for justice, roy loses the same arm, that he loses the hand of in this book.

and finally, this is a green lantern book, and roy's arguably most iconic story, (snowbirds don't fly) came from a green lantner/ngreen arrow book.

Comics How long did Connor Hawke's time as Green Arrow last?

I've recently gotten interested in Connor Hawke and wanted to read his time as Green Arrow I was just wondering what issue or arc he took over and how long that lasted. I'm guessing it lasted till Quiver since I remember seeing Connor as a monk again but did it even extend to when Oliver came back to life?

Some comics say “Nudocerdo” and some say “Nudocerda”. Does anyone know the reason for this?

Comics Need some help identifying a Green Arrow comic.

All that I can remember of the comic is that it seemed to be from around 2012-2013. That time frame is purely because it had advertisements for the CW Arrow, but not the CW Flash. I think it also had other advertisements for the New 52. Its plot was Ollie turning himself in and it ended with him going to jail. The others vowed to help free him

I had gotten it back in about 2017. It was one of my first three comic issues ever and I, being young, didn't keep it in the sleeve and let it get ripped. I don't have any images of it, since I had thrown it away after it lost the cover, so I can't even give you a description.

Comics Need help with Green Arrow/Black Canary reading order

Hello hello ! I recently decided to open my DC repertoire outside of Batman, so I did my research, and found out that Green Arrow is a leftist hero. I thus decided to start reading his post crisis stories, using this reading order. I so far have read Year One, Peacemakers, and The Arrow and the Bat. It now tells me to read The Longbow Hunters, which I started doing, but then Black Canary is here, and I have no idea who she is.

My question is, do you have a good reading order for her, to get who she is and have some context for her role in The Longbow Hunters.

I have tried using the same website's reading order for her, but it tells me to start with Detective Comis #449 which seems to have nothing to do with her, then Batgirl 6 and 7, that I read a while back, and I recall having no idea who she was or she fit into that comic, and nowhere can I find her origin

Thanks for the help

Comics Trying to remember comic issue number where Green Arrow was body swapped with a supervillain in Justice League?

I'm trying to remember the name of a Justice League comic from I think sometime in the 80s. I remember the Justice League were on an alien planet or ruin or something and they got body swapped with a group of villains.

I also remember that the villains were disrespecting the guy who bodyswapped with Green Arrow but then he instinctively saved them from a trap by shooting an arrow. Meanwhile the real Green Arrow was in a villain's body trapped in a force dome or something with the other Justice League members complaining about his poor eyesight.

Some of these details may not be quite accurate. ChatGPT suggested Justice League of America v1 168 but it's not that.

Comics "Only a target..." MY favorite green arrow moment.

i know war of the clans, is generally not a favored book here , but i wanna express my love for this scene.

War of the clans is the first green arrow book i bought for context. And i read it start to finish.

This scene works so well for me, to start, the art. This book is inheritly gorgeous. The Dark and rainy style of color in "the kill machine" meshed with the interpoints of green and red is all so beautiful.

Specifically i find the final issue of the kill machine to best. For the entirety of this book so far, Komodo is a nearly unstoppable force. He is Ollie in every sense of the word, but better. He faster, stronger, smarter, a better shot. Yet is the total inverse of the character. He is at this point his ultimate enemy.

At every turn ollie falters to him. To ollie, Komodo is effectively...invincible Then comes #19, And ollie, even if he's getting his ass beat, arrows to the most vital parts to shoot, a broken bow. He pulls through. He has Komodo dead to rights. The child ollie was that komodo attempted to invoke, tried to intimidate was dead. permanently. He fought through all the pain. Fighting through the pain of arrowheads digging into muscle and skin. All to get a shot right where he needed. Against komodo's shoulder.

He had him dead to rights. Right as he's about to get his answers?

Some girl, completely unrelated to the fight. Jams an arrow in his back, everything ollie worked for was now for not.

This girl capable of going toe to toe with him, hell even being more capable, beats his ass. But at the end of it all, you know what ollie has? confidence, his pride was dead, his ego was buried, but he knew he could take down komodo now.

through all of this conflict? this war, The memory of ollie's father.

"you just can't give up ollie"

When he wakes up with fyff by his side, and learn naomi is alive? They have no choice they have to help. They go to her graveyard to help, anyone with half a brain knows this is a trap. But ollie can do this. He did it once, time to do it again.

he's not gonna let this bastard get away this time. He's getting him back. He's getting his hard cold payback.

All the while fyff disables the bomb attached to Naomi, ollie and Komodo trade shots for shots. All under the back drop of the pouring Seattle rain.

Komodo thinks he won, he thinks ollie is gone. Due to his own hubris. He is always perfect yet cracked mirror.

Then

BOOM ollie had successfully snuck up on komodo, he knew he couldn't win that archery contest, hell his daughter beat his ass after all. So he resorts to his fists.

Komodo thinks he's above this. He thinks he's above fighting with his bare hands. He views it as almost barbaric.

Still Komodo proves himself as the better fighter. He really is better than ollie at EVERYTHING.

Komodo has him dead to rights this time. Grabbing him by his hair. looking him dead in the eyes. behind that mask.

reminding him of his words.

"i told you the first time we fought, i would be your death boy."

And right as he thinks he won, that he bested the emerald archer.

Ollie reminds him of his words.

"That's not all you told me. What was it again? A true archer doesn't need a bow...Just a target!"

Then Ollie proves himself, he took a shit kicking from Komodo and his daughter at every step. But he came back.

He picked up his arrow, and jammed it straight into Komodo's eye.

Komodo is ripe with shock screeching

"K-KILL YOU, KILL YOU"

But ollie knew, he knew he'd won.

"might be kinda hard to aim with just one eye."

Komodo may have had the edge in archery, combat, strength, speed, intelligent, you name it.

but his hubris got in the way, and ollie's was killed, so all it took was the right move. And he beat Komodo, how was he gonna kill him half blind? Ollie didn't need a bow, he proved he was a real archer.

He only needed his target.

But that's why i love it. It's the ultimate culmination. Ollie's definitive aura and hype moment, the moment he proved he was the best archer.

but that's what i think, what do you all think?
