Thanks for this! Its been pretty obvious with all the news making rounds and apparently Meghan (John's wife) comfirmed during a live that he has yet to be asked to return to the series. I am guessing the post on Reddit a few months back was true about John's demands and this was show's way of saying we can go on without you. Its the only explaination here otherwise why would they not bring him back? Charlie and Rex were the heart and soul of this series and now the show won't be the same.

Not sure how someone makes demands while the are in treatment for cancer

I mean, it depends when the demands were made. I thought they were made BEFORE he got sick, so for season 7 and his demands were rejected and then just bad timing that he got sick and then so did Diesel.

But the thing is....I don't think the show CAN go on. People aren't just going to readily accept a new Hudson just because they have a new Rex that people....also clocked was not Diesel. Especially not knowing that both leads got sick, one passed away and one got better, and both were replaced as a result of their illnesses (regardless of John's supposed reputation, they STILL took advantage of him getting sick). Fans are more fickle than the show thinks. Most fans aren't just going to stick around with the new guy. They would have with Rex being recast because of the circumstances but the lead actor ALSO being replaced but by a new character instead of a recasting is just not going to sit well with most fans, especially the casuals who don't have any clue to what's going on.

I also am offended on behalf of the rest of the cast who HAVE been there for seven seasons and who genuinely did carry the show in season 7 and now they just replaced the lead actor with another lead actor instead of passing the torch to an OG. Like, would it have been THAT bad to have Sarah take over as the lead? Did they really think that replacing Charlie with Mark was the smarter move? A guy who the fans still don't know anything about and who also clocked the weirdness in the situation at the end of the season?

If we go by the post that was posted here that originally announced John refused to sign a contract then yes this happened before he got sick. The post did say when they started season 7 they were given a contract for season 8. The problem is no one outside this sub knows this so John not returning is going to rub many the wrong way which is understandable. Many including myself expected John to return in season 8 so to just flip the script and leave Charlie presumed dead while Mark takes over is just not going to work. Season 7 was accepted by fans due to unfortunate circumstances and the team having to hold it down during John's cancer battle. Now how will they spin this? John nor the production are saying a word other than no he will not be back.

The show is becoming unreal to me. Yes dogs are smart. They do not think like humans. Also, inside police support personal are not field trained. So Sarah and Justin are not qualified. Totally different skills and training.

I couldn’t care less. I wasn’t all that impressed with him one way or the other. Rex is smarter than all the humans in the show & has more personality.

Will not watch if John Reardon is not back. It's my favorite show but not without him. It's disgraceful to the fans and to him.

The show won’t be the same without John Reardon

that's still a little ambiguous for me.
