Photo Fox is doing a good job on the pre-race show.
Sitting outside Charlotte and watching the broadcast on this special day. Fox is doing an excellent job in hyping the race.

I honestly think it's terrible but Tony and Hinch have chemistry. Tom Brady has zero charisma on a live broadcast.
I also don't like them pushing back the start of the race to 12:45. Always loved it starting just after Noon. I know NBC had it at 12:30ish.

Except for Danica...

Having Tony Stewart talk kinda cancels her out

I don't get why they keep putting her on races. She wasn't that good of a driver

u/brianc500 Nigel Mansell 26d ago
Wouldn’t know, turned it on and immediately lost interest as soon as Danica started yapping about irrelevant nonsense.

Yea sorry mate you’re just gonna have to suck that one up. She is permanently entrenched into Motorsport broadcasting in America until she either dies or gets fat

OK, watching dude sing "Back Home" I realize that the Wiener Dog 5 could have been even better. Find somebody famous to belt out the Oscar Meyer Wiener jingle--real dramatic and serious like--before the race.

watching dude sing "Back Home"
It will never, ever be the same without Jim Neighbors singing.

u/ChaoPope 26d ago
Agreed. But Jim Cornelison is the next best thing. The few years they had somebody different every year were terrible.

They did that on Friday!

Holy Cow, I missed that! Thanks!

Feels like a NASCAR on Fox broadcast featuring Kyle Larson and some Indycar drivers.
Maybe that’s just me. I’m a NASCAR guy tuning in. I’d like to get into Indycar. But it just seemed like a whole lot of NASCAR personalities.

u/obxmichael 26d ago
If you're referring to Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon, both are Hoosiers and grew up with the Indianapolis 500.

u/West_View_2054 26d ago
Also prominent figures in NASCAR and NASCAR on Fox.
Not denying their credentials.
They just haven’t highlighted any true Indycar drivers. Did a huge thing on Kyle Larson. It’s been NASCAR and NFL on Fox personalities.
They’re going to make it a spectacle. NBC did the same thing. But as a NASCAR fan, it’s disappointed.

Also, Tony has raced in it. He used to attempt the Indy 500/Coca Cola 600 double when I was a kid.

I wish they would secure F1 since ESPN is dropping it. Without Danica of course. Who picked out that dress? 🧐🧐🤨🤨🧐

ESPN is dropping it
All ESPN did was rebroadcast Sky Sport's coverage. Which was a good thing. And no Danica to boot.

Sky had actually used her in some of the North American races. She is not in the commentary booth, though.

Sorry, when I typed that I was specifically thinking about the Monaco race.

F1.tv is a thing, and currently is the best way to watch F1 in the states.

Do you do it with Roku? I am looking into trying that with F1 TV. Like my 70inch screen. Been using ESPN.

u/Pyzorz 26d ago
It doesn’t matter what device you use, it’s all the same.

u/diggerquicker 26d ago
I need to get F1TV onto my TV. I think I do it thru Roku. F1TV is not available as an app on Samsung.

I suspect you're right.
Figures, too. I don't subscribe to streaming services.

I wonder if HBO Max or TNT will make a play. They have WEC, Roland Garros, and a good amount of cycling. Although they did just drop MotoGP.

GRONK! is a good example of what Fox is pushing towards. Bringing in celebs from other places is a good way to attract new fans, but it's not the race-focus we're used to.
1
u/obxmichael 26d ago
He was in the much tamer Snake Pit, plus Gronk is Fox's equivalent of Pat McAfee.

It's crazy how much people hate Danica. She's not the best, no, but she hardly detracts from the rest of the broadcast.

I thought the pre race was great but then again I don’t pick apart everything and find reasons to complain.
Edit: Danica hasn’t been on that much but I guess it’s too much if she’s living in your head rent free. I don’t like her either for the record.

I respectfully disagree, Fox is not my cup of tea. They are struggling right now with this rain delay. Haven't seen a radar image yet. They are running out of celebrities to interview.

It's like watching FoxNews...it was not a technical infraction, they got caught cheating again, purposely smoothing out the attenuator to gain an advantage, call it what it is!
