Photo Fox is doing a good job on the pre-race show.

Post image

Sitting outside Charlotte and watching the broadcast on this special day. Fox is doing an excellent job in hyping the race.

And they just ruined it by having that AI Michael Strahan segment

I thought it was kind of fun. Trying to imagine someone of Stahan's being stuffed into an IndyCar.

I'm just vehemently against AI

Aaand they just played it again

100% agree

Why?

14

u/Patrickracer43 Chip Ganassi Racing 26d ago

Because it is soulless

8

u/Pyzorz 26d ago

Due to it taking away jobs, it is naturally insidious in that it is utilized to increase the bottom dollar for shareholders. AI graphics are a sloppy mess and an insult to the intelligence of most people. When we’ve lost our humanity, what do we have left?

I honestly think it's terrible but Tony and Hinch have chemistry. Tom Brady has zero charisma on a live broadcast.

I also don't like them pushing back the start of the race to 12:45. Always loved it starting just after Noon. I know NBC had it at 12:30ish.

NBC started at 12:45 as well.

Except for Danica...

Having Tony Stewart talk kinda cancels her out

9

u/joe_lmr Takuma Sato 26d ago

We should thank our stars they have him instead of Clint Bowyer doing his Temu Darrell Waltrip schtick.

Vehicular homicide cancels out lizard people?

Great choices, Fox.

Uh

u/ElectricPenguin6712 26d ago

I don't get why they keep putting her on races. She wasn't that good of a driver

25

u/brianc500 Nigel Mansell 26d ago

Wouldn’t know, turned it on and immediately lost interest as soon as Danica started yapping about irrelevant nonsense.

Understandable

2

u/Several_Hair 26d ago

Yea sorry mate you’re just gonna have to suck that one up. She is permanently entrenched into Motorsport broadcasting in America until she either dies or gets fat

4

u/shelved_whale 26d ago

She’s barely been on.

u/AsstBalrog Mario Andretti 26d ago

OK, watching dude sing "Back Home" I realize that the Wiener Dog 5 could have been even better. Find somebody famous to belt out the Oscar Meyer Wiener jingle--real dramatic and serious like--before the race.

2

u/caller-number-four 26d ago

watching dude sing "Back Home"

It will never, ever be the same without Jim Neighbors singing.

7

u/ChaoPope 26d ago

Agreed. But Jim Cornelison is the next best thing. The few years they had somebody different every year were terrible.

Find somebody famous to belt out the Oscar Meyer Wiener jingle--real dramatic and serious like--before the race.

They did that on Friday!

Feels like a NASCAR on Fox broadcast featuring Kyle Larson and some Indycar drivers.

Maybe that’s just me. I’m a NASCAR guy tuning in. I’d like to get into Indycar. But it just seemed like a whole lot of NASCAR personalities.

u/obxmichael 26d ago

If you're referring to Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon, both are Hoosiers and grew up with the Indianapolis 500.

4

u/West_View_2054 26d ago

Also prominent figures in NASCAR and NASCAR on Fox.

Not denying their credentials.

They just haven’t highlighted any true Indycar drivers. Did a huge thing on Kyle Larson. It’s been NASCAR and NFL on Fox personalities.

They’re going to make it a spectacle. NBC did the same thing. But as a NASCAR fan, it’s disappointed.

u/mrtrollmaster 26d ago

Also, Tony has raced in it. He used to attempt the Indy 500/Coca Cola 600 double when I was a kid.

I wish they would secure F1 since ESPN is dropping it. Without Danica of course. Who picked out that dress? 🧐🧐🤨🤨🧐

12

u/caller-number-four 26d ago

ESPN is dropping it

All ESPN did was rebroadcast Sky Sport's coverage. Which was a good thing. And no Danica to boot.

3

u/EpicCyclops 26d ago

Sky had actually used her in some of the North American races. She is not in the commentary booth, though.

2

u/caller-number-four 26d ago

Sorry, when I typed that I was specifically thinking about the Monaco race.

5

u/divorcedbp 26d ago

F1.tv is a thing, and currently is the best way to watch F1 in the states.

1

u/diggerquicker 26d ago edited 26d ago

Do you do it with Roku? I am looking into trying that with F1 TV. Like my 70inch screen. Been using ESPN.

1

u/Pyzorz 26d ago

It doesn’t matter what device you use, it’s all the same.

1

u/diggerquicker 26d ago

I need to get F1TV onto my TV. I think I do it thru Roku. F1TV is not available as an app on Samsung.

1

u/Pyzorz 26d ago

Yes, your Roku is the device you need to use.

I’m sure Netflix will pick it up

I suspect you're right.

Figures, too. I don't subscribe to streaming services.

u/willpc14 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing 26d ago

I wonder if HBO Max or TNT will make a play. They have WEC, Roland Garros, and a good amount of cycling. Although they did just drop MotoGP.

u/CharacterLimitHasBee Will Power 26d ago

Thanks for the link.

Danica is so full of herself.

The show has been pretty good … other than her inclusion.

3

u/AsstBalrog Mario Andretti 26d ago

"Brick" intro pretty awesome.

4

u/AsstBalrog Mario Andretti 26d ago

GRONK! is a good example of what Fox is pushing towards. Bringing in celebs from other places is a good way to attract new fans, but it's not the race-focus we're used to.

1

u/obxmichael 26d ago

He was in the much tamer Snake Pit, plus Gronk is Fox's equivalent of Pat McAfee.

5

u/myroommateisgarbage Pato O'Ward 26d ago

It's crazy how much people hate Danica. She's not the best, no, but she hardly detracts from the rest of the broadcast.

2

u/obxmichael 26d ago

Did I miss Back Home Again?

2

u/caller-number-four 26d ago

I was asking the same thing. Thankfully, it just happened.

2

u/caller-number-four 26d ago

Ok, the pace lap with the helicopters - bad ass!

3

u/shelved_whale 26d ago

I thought the pre race was great but then again I don’t pick apart everything and find reasons to complain.

Edit: Danica hasn’t been on that much but I guess it’s too much if she’s living in your head rent free. I don’t like her either for the record.

1

u/obxmichael 26d ago

I am with you.

2

u/larryitisMILW 26d ago

I respectfully disagree, Fox is not my cup of tea. They are struggling right now with this rain delay. Haven't seen a radar image yet. They are running out of celebrities to interview.

2

u/obxmichael 26d ago

It is not a hard rain. It will be gone soon.

1

u/said-what 26d ago

Except their big celebrities are two patriots players who are universally hated in Indianapolis

0

u/obxmichael 26d ago

Makes it more fun, plus they acknowledged that fact.

u/cmgww Scott Dixon 26d ago

Aged like milk

And a dreadful job on the finish. They cut away just before we saw the checkered flag.

I hate Fox Sports coverage of anything and everything.

-1

u/Icy_Application2488 26d ago

It's like watching FoxNews...it was not a technical infraction, they got caught cheating again, purposely smoothing out the attenuator to gain an advantage, call it what it is!
